nycruise Posted August 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2010 Are Taxis available at the Port of San Pedro when you disembark or do you need to make prior arrangements? Any idea what it costs to get to Westwood from San Pedro? Thanks.
Got Tequila? Posted August 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2010 Are Taxis available at the Port of San Pedro when you disembark or do you need to make prior arrangements? Any idea what it costs to get to Westwood from San Pedro? Thanks. There are definitely taxi's available when you get off the ship in San Pedro. Sorry, I can't help with pricing... retired rascal Posted August 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2010 On the boards for departure ports, there's lots of info re Port of LA.:)
bean24 Posted August 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2010 One thing to beware of, when we were in San Pedro three ships came in at the same time and the wait for a cab was over an hour, if you need to be somewhere keep that in mind.
nycruise Posted August 11, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted August 11, 2010 Thanks Guys. Luckily we'll be the only ship in port. I'll check the Port Board.
Putterdude Posted August 11, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2010 There are normally lots of cabs at the San Pedro cruise terminal. You could phone one of the taxi companies to get some idea of prices.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 11, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2010 There are lots of taxis that are available and if you are not in a rush not big deal as more will come. Keith
Rare PatriciaF Posted August 12, 2010 #8 Share Posted August 12, 2010 On the boards for departure ports, there's lots of info re Port of LA.:) Was this post moved? This is the board for departure ports? Westwood is way past LAX--expect a very pricey cab ride--also, the freeway is always backed up just past the airport from the Marina Del Rey Freeway to the 101. A cheaper way to do this is to take one of the shuttle services to LAX, get off, then get on another to your address in Westwood.
CaseyJr Posted August 12, 2010 #9 Share Posted August 12, 2010 San Pedro to Westwood sounds expensive. It is approx. 28 miles from SP to Westwood. This site might give you an idea of what type of fare to expect: http://www.taxicabsla.org/.
nycruise Posted August 12, 2010 Author #10 Share Posted August 12, 2010 Thanks for the help. I found a site that estimates taxifares, seems like it would be about $88 to Westwood. Rare PatriciaF Posted August 12, 2010 #11 Share Posted August 12, 2010 I realized that Supershuttle considers the Port of Los Angeles an "airport" so I put in the information from the Port to Westwood. It won't give a multiple person rate, just $44/person to the destination I selected--UCLA.
nycruise Posted August 13, 2010 Author #12 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Thanks Patricia, I checked with a shuttle service and their rate is $65 plus tip, not that much less than a taxi. I think we'll stick with a taxi since the shuttle picks up around 11 AM because they don't know what time you will disembark. With a taxi we can leave as soon as we are ready.:)
Cruisin' Chick Posted August 14, 2010 #13 Share Posted August 14, 2010 One thing about the various shuttle services in the LA area is that like taxis, you can get picked up anywhere and taken to anywhere. Not just among the airports, ports and hotels. But most likely you would need to get a more private shuttle to go to Westwood, unless there happens to be any cruisers going there too (maybe more like Bel Aire). You'll probably end up in traffic going that way due to some major construction on the 405 in that area.
