rothjer Posted August 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2010 Hi there We are flying into BDA to join our cruise which is berthed in the Kings Wharf port. Would anyone know how much it would cost us to hire a taxi for this distance? We are aware of the ferry, but we are lugging lots of luggage and would rather the comfort of a taxi. Are taxi's readily available at the airport? We arrive at 1:30 pm, how long would the drive be ? Should we expect any delays or traffic around this time ? jollyjones Posted August 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2010 There will be taxis at the airport. The trip will take 60 - 90 mins and cost over $50 - probably somewhere $75 to $100 - you are travelling from one end of the island to the furthest end. Traffic isn't bad at this time. This is an expensive way to join a cruise but you may think it's worth it. On the other hand, a taxi to St George's ferry dock (and they can drop you right at the dock altho' there is no shade there from the sun) will take about 10 - 15 mins and cost $15 - $20. The ferries run at 3pm and 4pm Mon - Fri and take 40 mins to King's Wharf. Then it's a short(ish) walk on the flat to the ship. It should take you 20 - 30 mins at the airport from plane to taxi so you ought to be easily able to make the 3pm ferry. (PS - King's Wharf is at Dockyard - see the map)
smeyer418 Posted August 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2010 with limited luggage you could do this by bus($4.50 all coins or coupons or an all day pass $12 per day)...which will also take a while. Personally I would take the taxi to Hamilton and then the ferry that runs every hour or less and is then 20 minutes from the Dockyards.... http://www.bermudaairport.aero/pages/groundtransportation.aspx
