floridafolks Posted August 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2010 Has anyone walked from the University Light rail station to the Rennaissance? How is the walk and how long does it take? Also where in the downtown/Pike Market area can we find a reasonably priced location to purchase wine to take onboard the cruise?(BTW we are on HAL and that is allowed.) Thanks in advance for your help.
Dan G Posted August 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Its three bloks to Renaissance but you should know they are up three very steep hills. Perhaps 8-10% grade so its a hike. There is a good wine shop in the Pike Place Market on Pike Place north of the original Starbucks.
Casagordita Posted August 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2010 There is a good wine shop in the Pike Place Market on Pike Place north of the original Starbucks. You're talking about Pike & Western Wine Shop http://www.pikeandwestern.com/ and it is indeed a great store. Another good one in that area is DeLaurenti's http://www.delaurenti.com/. Besides a good wine selection, they also have a fabulous array of cheeses and deli meats and other gourmet goodies.

Unfortunately, we will be arriving on Sunday and both stores close at 5pm on Sunday and flight gets in at 3pm. That may cut it close. We planned to take taxi direct to pier 91 from hotel on Monday- How about the IGA grocery store--does it have a decent wine selection? I think it is open later than 5pm on Sunday.
