Has anyone brought boxed wine on board (only to use in the cabin obviously)? It seems this would be the easiest to put in a suitcase.[/ do it all the time. Usually a 3L or 5L box. Several brands and types of wine are now available.

I take the 3L. They fit in the fridge really easy. I wait till I get there to buy it at the grocery store & put in my checked luggage.

The 5L box fits also. However I have not seen them for sale in Fort Lauderdale.

Yes it seems the 3L is more plentiful to find and you still have some room in the fridge. There is a Publix behind Embassy Suites that has a good selection. There is also a Winn Dixie close by, kind of behind Chuck's Steakhouse on the side street.

Just found out yesterday that 3L is the largest allowed tobe sold. Not sure if all of Florida or just FLL

Maybe that's why I can only remember ever seeing the 3L at Publix.

Some of the lesser quality wines, like Alamaden and Franzia come in 5L boxes. My DH likes white zinfindel and he bought a 5L of Franzia.... It will take him a year to drink it.

I always take a box wine when I cruise. There are a lot of great wines that are now sold in the boxes and they are so convenient! The 3 ml box fits great in the mini-fridge, too!

We are leaving Saturday on the Golden - question about the coffee card, can more than one person use it? I'm not too particular about my coffee, so I don't know if it is worth it just for me, but my kids love hot cocoa.

Anyone can use the coffee card. i do not know if hot cocoa requires a punch to the card, since it's not something we drink

Have a great trip

Bring postcards or photos FROM your home to share with your room steward, waiter, etc. They will likely be from another country and not familiar with your hometown, and seem to appreciate it.

If the change machine in the laundry is broken or empty, pick up the house phone and call the Passenger Service Desk and they will send out the man who takes care of the laundry. This is what the man told me to do when I was talking to him about the machine always being empty and I had to go to the casino to get quarters. He said to just call. He was in the laundry room tending to the machines.

I also use the laundry sheets, so much easier then bringing soap or buying it there. I put them in a plastic bag and they take up no room.

Our anniversary was near the end of our cruise on the Ruby in June. I noted that we wanted to celebrate it on the actual day. The steward puts up a sign and balloons on the day requested. I've learned to ask that this be celebrated much earlier in the cruise as you get the sign and balloons for a longer time. We got a card on our anniversary to present to the head waiter and we were presented with a cake and they sang happy anniversary to us at dinner.

On days when they serve lemoncello, some ships will give unlimited refills, if not, ask.

On the Ruby in June, there was a power hour, I think, from 4-6 and it was well advertised at the bars. I didn't see any specials off hand for late at night.

My dh had the screw in his glass come loose. He went to the jewelery shop and they tightened up the screw with no problem.

Found the extra plug on the Ruby by following the cord from the tv. It was a flat screen but there was no little door, it just plugged into the wall. Plenty of space to put my phone while charging.

The two outlets on the desk were so close together that I could only plug in one plug at a time, glad I found the tv one.

We had an obstructed view on the Ruby. I found it to be very unobstructed as the life boats were very low to the window.

Thanks for the info! One other important note - anyone who is doing the Baltic on the Emerald should know that the whole time you are in St. Petersburg that the Laundry Rooms are CLOSED!!!!! I threw a huge fit in front of the door but it didn't magically open, LOL! >^..^<

Target sells small boxes of wine and they have a pretty good selection. Last night a neighbor and I tried their Malbec. We both thought it was quite good. $11.99 for the equivalent of two bottles. Know that they had Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Chablis, Cabernet, Merlot, and Shiraz (I think)...They also had larger boxes of many of them. They would pack real easily.

Wow! I am up to page 18 so thought I had best start keeping notes on what I had read. The rest of this thread will have to wait. So sorry if I repete something that is mentioned in pages 19 on up.

Escargot….. I am not a fan of the 6-pack of slugs :D so you can have mine.

Tea, to get really great tea, I carry my own tea bags.

Shaving legs. I sit on the toilet lid and rub a small amount of olive oil on my legs and then “dry” shave them, then get in the shower and shower.

In Walmart etc. you can find small net bags (one side is fiber) with a loop on it, it is not too big, and it will hold the small soaps or the one that you brought from home with no problem, and the loop allows it to be hung on the taps, so it also frees up that small shelf for your shampoos etc. They are only a couple of dollars, and you find them where they have the body scrubs, body gloves etc. in the makeup area.

you can see that I am ready for a few cruises:D

Although I use the Eagle "pack it cubes" for most things, I find that a plastic pencil box is great for putting all your shower/bathroom items in, the ones that you may not want to leave out.

The one that is about 12 inches long and 4 inches wide is great for this. it will fit along the edge of your suitcase, or right in the middle between two piles of clothes.

Right now they are easy to find (school days) and only a few dollars also.

they can be stored on the bottom shelf under the sink.

I too am amazed at how many people do not know the carpet code.

Having one color for Port and one for starboard is a great Princess trick.

Buy 100 shares of carnival stock, and you will get shipboard credits each time you sail with them. Remember that Princess and HAL etc. are owned by Carnival. If you cruise a lot, this can add up in a hurry.

My eyes are tired, and I am off. I will read the rest later. This is a great thread.
