Nigella Posted July 25, 2014 #76 Share Posted July 25, 2014 I'm pleased to say that we have now been re-instated in our original suite. However, apart from a 'sorry' telephone call from Seabourn UK Office, no offer of compensation for all the aggravation etc. !! Very pleased to hear that you now have your original suite. An apology should have been forthcoming though. Have a wonderful cruise.

Chairsin Posted July 25, 2014 #78 Share Posted July 25, 2014 Margaret, How funny is it that I have received better service from a TA many thousands of miles away than my former one who was almost around the corner. Glad to know you are pleased with them as well. (BTW, looking forward to meeting you soon.)

Glad to know you are pleased with them as well. (BTW, looking forward to meeting you soon.) Can't wait to put faces to "names" from the Seabourn board! Not all that long now. We spent a wonderful month in the States earlier this year, part of which we spent with friends who we met on Seabourn a few years ago. We look forward to welcoming them to our bit of the UK! Chairsin Posted July 25, 2014 #80 Share Posted July 25, 2014 I do think the many friends we have made over the years in one of the best fringe benefits the Seabourn has provided. Can't wait to meet you in Lisbon.
lincslady Posted July 26, 2014 #81 Share Posted July 26, 2014 Funnily enough, it was someone from the 'company in Bournemouth'- who are indeed very helpful and charming and prepared to spend time with you - who had not asked me if we were 'up for' an upgrade, and then told us we had been given one, without choice. She, I think, felt a bit embarrassed about it. So, lovely though they, they are not perfect.

When we booked the cruise we will join this September (booked it March 2013), we were asked if we wanted to be considered for an upgrade but told that if we said yes and were then offered one we had to accept it. We did say yes, but don't think we would in the future, just in case we were assigned a suite we didn't want. I don't think there is any chance of a suite upgrade on our upcoming cruise as it sold out a few months ago!
Laylam Posted July 28, 2014 #83 Share Posted July 28, 2014 I understand -- look for a company in Bournemouth. Mmmmm, now I am confused. I thought I had worked out which TA you were all talking about, but they are in Reading.
lincslady Posted July 28, 2014 #84 Share Posted July 28, 2014  Mmmmm, now I am confused. I thought I had worked out which TA you were all talking about, but they are in Reading. There are two best known in the UK for Seabourn and other luxury lines; one based in Reading and the other in Bournemouth! Hence the confusion. IMO you can almost always get the best quote from Reading, but the Bournemouth one has more helpful charm in dealing with you. You pays your money and takes your choice. We have used both. Island Sun Posted July 28, 2014 #86 Share Posted July 28, 2014 I have just had reason to telephone Seabourn at Southampton about my cruise booking and can say it was completely problem free. Got through almost immediately, query dealt with by 'James' and all sorted straight away!
markham Posted July 28, 2014 #87 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Island Sun, If your query was a routine matter then I would expect the Seabourn office to be helpful. But if it was to quote for a cruise I doubt you would be as happy with the fare quoted versus that of a specialist TA such as either of the two mentioned above. That's the current market dynamic and there are many other reasons to want such a TA on side should any difficulty arise with a cruise line. Happy sailing! Island Sun Posted July 28, 2014 #88 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Markham The reason I had to call them was to move my direct booking made yesterday (provisionally) on their website to my TA. As you say, I wasn't as happy with their quote as the one given by my TA, but I needed to move it as there was only one cabin left for the category I wanted and I had reserved it on line! They were quite happy for my agent to take it over and although I didn't get a great discount I did get it at a price I was happy with! Although Seabourn is very expensive (compared to some) their service is second to none - so we only cruise once a year - but on my beloved Seabourn! Notts Outlaw Posted July 28, 2014 #89 Share Posted July 28, 2014 I have just had reason to telephone Seabourn at Southampton about my cruise booking and can say it was completely problem free. Got through almost immediately, query dealt with by 'James' and all sorted straight away! You were lucky. I had a conversation with a manager, Sam Withers, on Friday afternoon regarding a final resolution to our problems and he promised to have a word with his manager on Monday morning (ie. Today) and come back to me - but I am still waiting !!
