elmwood Posted August 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2010 Has anyone ever sailed on one of the holiday cruises over the Christmas period and if so what can we expect? Do normal excursions run? Are there any special celebrations? Being of mixed faiths, we don't usually make a big deal out of Christmas, often choosing to travel at this time of year, hence booking the over Christmas cruise. Emdee Posted August 26, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2010 We on the PG one new year and were quite disappointed with the new year festivities. We felt it was quite low key. We did have one of those fire dances poolside which was enjoyable.
south seas sue Posted August 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2010 It is a bit weird being in the islands during the xmas season. We were on the PG for 10 days, ending 12-22. There really was not much flavor of the holiday season - pretty much bz as usual re excursions and mealtimes. At least, that was our experience. I was in the Carrib. the first part of Dec. a few years ago, and they made a big deal of xmas re buying things - every port was promoting gifts for the holiday season. Not so much in FP. MtnDriver Posted August 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2010 We were once on the PG over New Years and they did have quite a party for that, including fireworks (on Rangiroa). Not sure what they did on Christmas as we didn't get on until 12/28. It is a little hotter in December/January and also more humid. And...it seems even hotter because it is winter at home for most of us.
