shelmo Posted August 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2010 Im booking this weekend for next summer but can not decide between the Azura OR Ventura, I will be travelling with teenagers , young adults and an 80 year old. The itinerary is about the same. I was just wondering if anyone can give me any advice or should I just toss a coin and hope for the best as my son suggested. shropshire lass Posted August 29, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Hi, I have been on Ventura and i am booked to go on Azura next year. I think they are both extremely similar in what they offer for all ages and the cabin layouts are identical but with different colour schemes. Both offer different dining options and freedom dining available on both and as far as i saw on Ventura the childrens facilities were excellent and i expect the same high standards are on Azura aswell. I think you will be pleased whichever ship you choose!!!!
jocap Posted August 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2010 I've been on Ventura twice, but only for a night on Azura, and they were almost the same. One difference is the main swimming pool- on Ventura there's a sliding roof, which means you can swim whatever the weather, whereas Azura's is open, with the big cinema screen. This is to be considered if your group like to swim, because the days to/from the Med can be chilly, and I've read a revue about Azura this year where this was a disappointment. There again, if you want to watch movies under the stars..... Jo.
Denarius Posted August 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Physically, the ships are nearly identical. The main differences are on the open decks. Over the rear pool, Azura has an outdoor cinema screen, Ventura a retracting roof. On Azura, the front part of the top deck, including the Oasis Pool, form a pay-extra spa extension, The Retreat; on Ventura, this is free public space. The main difference is in the ambience. Ventura is a contemporary ship with a relaxed attitude aimed at families and young (or young at heart) adults - think a big Oceana. Azura is more traditional, aimed at P&Os traditional, older, market, with a higher degree of formality - think a big Aurora. Two different personalities, which one suits you will probably depend on yours. I suspect that your children would probably prefer Ventura, your mother Azura. Whichever you choose, however, you are unlkely to be dissappointed.
