Merion_Mom Posted September 15, 2010 Author #426 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Fort Lauderdale begins to recede: (Oh, the Muster drill was outside for us, but no lifejackets, of course. Lots of newbies near us saying things that made us snicker. Some of them were in the RFS, and I just wanted to scream, "GET OUT OF MY CABIN!!!!" ;) We forgot to take pictures at Chops, where we used the BOGO first night coupon. It was VERY good. Our first night reservations were for the Oasis of Dreams show in the Aquatheatre. Here are some pics of the theatre pre-show: Repeating the semi-famous story. They fashioned a large Crown & Anchor to put on the back of the Oasis. In Finland, when they mounted it, it looked small and out of place. Someone remembered that RC still had Sovereign of the Seas' Crown and Anchor (the one that used to be on her side), in storage. They fetched it, put it on Oasis, and voilá! A perfect fit! These are the ends of the decks and balconies that overlook the Aquatheatre. You should be able to just make out the rockwall on the left side of the photo. Merion_Mom Posted September 15, 2010 Author #427 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Every member of the Aqua Team had a "billboard". I only took two pictures! Here is Jesse, for amethyst. And Richard Spacey, for the rest of you: And then the show began:

Merion_Mom Posted September 15, 2010 Author #432 Share Posted September 15, 2010 We were sitting in the Schooner Bar, looking at the Rising Tide Bar going by. Doesn't it look like fun???? We waited a few days more before going on ourselves. This is Ed Manego in the Schooner Bar: I have some pictures of me at the same spot that I'll post later. (I think that I look AT LEAST as good as he does!!!! ;)) Dazzles night club, where we danced the night away with Dirtgirl!
Merion_Mom Posted September 15, 2010 Author #433 Share Posted September 15, 2010 You probably think that this is a bad picture, but I think that it's funny. We walked into the Solarium, and my camera lens immediately fogged up. :D So I wiped it off, and continued with the exploration.
Merion_Mom Posted September 15, 2010 Author #434 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Standing on the pool deck looking down on Central Park: Central Park balconies, hot tubs on pool deck: WE CAN SEE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! Merion_Mom Posted September 15, 2010 Author #435 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Dinner at Giovanni's Table: By the way, that wine was REALLY good, and lasted us through two full meals at Giovanni's Table. It was a very reasonable $49 (for the quality).
Merion_Mom Posted September 15, 2010 Author #436 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Here we have the famous lounger for our D1 extended balcony. Notice that the two chairs and table remained there, and there was still plenty of space for the lounge chair.
Merion_Mom Posted September 15, 2010 Author #437 Share Posted September 15, 2010 I am trying to show you how little room there is between the end of the beds and the wall. It's hard to see, but it gets even smaller at the far corner where it meets the vanity corner. This is how much space there is between the beds. By the way, the beds were VERY comfortable. VERY. These were the only drawers in the cabin, and the top one had the hairdryer in it. Vanity counter/top - these are our goodies. Shelf above the plasma TV. (staff would NOT remove the cans and bottles)
Merion_Mom Posted September 15, 2010 Author #438 Share Posted September 15, 2010 This is the cabinet to the left of the vanity mirror. There is no storage behind the mirror. Your eye can follow the cords and see where the outlets are UNDER the desk. Lorna almost crushed her skull a couple of times crawling around trying to plug in the power strip. At least we didn't have to use it every day - we just plugged in to the strip on the top of the desk. That's the closet, closed. The clothes hang out when you close the door, because the closet is shallow. Now the closet is open, and you can see the shelves, and the safe. DPurcell58 Posted September 15, 2010 #442 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Did you get caught in the rain at the Aqua show? we went at 9PM and had to stand in the back because of the rain. great photos. You should see how little room there is when the sofa bed is opened (between the sofa bed and the desk).
BonTXNY Posted September 15, 2010 #443 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Carol, wonderful pictures but... what is that "horror" story you said you would get into later? It's later now. Sorry to be so curious but well... I'm curious and glad it's in the past. Nobody needs horror anytime especially between cruises. How did you feel going from the Oasis to the Mariner? Must have been a big difference. I'm looking forward to January and the Voyager, the largest ship I probably will ever be on <sigh>
marci22 Posted September 15, 2010 #444 Share Posted September 15, 2010 That D1 does look cozy. I can't imagine more than 2 people in it!
The Big Booper Posted September 15, 2010 #445 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Yep!! They can look down...and SEE their speedo!! (If you can't see it, you shouldn't be wearing one...):p And you ladies call us guys horndogs when we admire the beautiful young things at the beach wearing one inch bikinis. But based on Carol's pictures, the guys in the show were far more revealing in their "costumes" then the girls, which is the reverse of what is usually found at the beach.:( The D1 cabin design on the Oasis is very similar to the setup of the Solstice, especially after seeing Carol's later pictures in this thread. This is the direction that RCCL corporate seems to be moving in cabin design. Lack of storage space, tight squeezes in getting around the cabin, etc. As a comparison, the Solstice standard is 194 sq ft vs 180 on the Oasis because the cabin is longer, to allow for the long skinny bathroom with the oval shower tube. Other then that the living area is identical on the two ships and represents a break from the old cabin design that lasted from the Vision class up to and including the Freedom class. The new design is OK for 7 day trips but longer trips of 10-14 days??? <<edit>> - How was the design of the toilet paper holder in the bathrooms? This is a problem on the S class and leads to tp rolls scooting around the public restrooms on the floor.:):)

Cdn Trekkie Posted September 15, 2010 #449 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Thanks for posting your review and pics. It's very entertaining and I can hardly wait until next week when I get to see the Oasis for myself. Question...I have heard that there is some sort of wall vendoring machine of sorts (that is possibly outside the dining room) where you can swipe your seapass card and try various 1 ounce measures of wine.:p Is this true? Did you happen to see this? Any picture? If this is indeed the case, please provide as many details as possible as I may have my new hangout. :D It would be like going on a tour to a winery without having to go too far.;)
