Palm-Breeze Posted August 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Hello fellow crusiers!:) My husband and I just found out we are 6 weeks pregnant! We are really happy with our little surprise (we've only been married 2 months!) but after reading Carnival's Pregnancy Policy it looks like we will have to cancel our honneymoon cruise in January.:( Will we be able to get a refund? We booked Early Saver so I think we will lose our deposit, but what about the rest of the cost? What is the deposit amount for Early Saver? I paid IN FULL when we booked so I don't remember what the deposit was. I've never had to cancel a vacation before and I'm not really sure what to do. Thanks for any advice! F5Loar Posted August 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2010 I've been able to cancel before final payment is due for no reason at all. You are a long way from that date. The fine print would be on their website.
Sargent_Schultz Posted August 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Your deposit is non-refundable with Early Savers, but you can transfer it to a different cruise for $50/person. Any chance you can cruise earlier? Not sure how far in the future they would let you push it out. Of course, Carnival can do whatever they want for any reason or no reason, so they might just refund the whole thing.
Palm-Breeze Posted August 29, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted August 29, 2010 We can't go any earlier because I'm getting my degree in Radiography right now. I'm bummed because I've been planning this trip for over a year! But planning for a child is much more exciting! I went on Carnivals site and cancelled. They are supposed to refund all but $600.00. Just think of all the diapers we could by with that money!:p
Sargent_Schultz Posted August 29, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2010 The money will still be there - maybe Carnival will let you "sell" the deposit to someone else for the change fee.

Just think of all the diapers we could by with that money!:p You might have been better off calling and cancelling. Under Early Saver booking you can cancel for $50pp penalty then (in your case) they should send you a future cruise credit for the amount of your deposit less the $50pp penalty, to be used w/in two years. ken

From the date you cancel, Carnival will hold the rest of your deposit for 2 years. Even if you got insurance it would only cover the $50 you lose, not the future credit.
