Fred C Posted August 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2010 I want to book an 11:15 flight out of Fort Lauderdale when I sail on Allure, but don't know if that's too early. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks. . More than likely, you would be ok, although a lot of people will tell you it is way too early. On the plus side, Port Everglades and FLL are only a few minutes away from each other. Most ships are not siginicantly delayed in their arrival back to port or in clearing customs. If you have C&A status that makes you eligible for priority disembarking, and/or are willing to do self-disembarking (carry all your own luggage off), that will help, as will having any sort of priority status with your airline that allows you to use a priority check in line or priority security line. On the minus side, ships can be delayed getting in to port or clearing customs, you may not be eligible for priority or self disembarkation, it may take time to clear customs and immigration at the port, get a cab, and the check in line and/or security line at the airport may be very long due to other cruise passengers (in additional to regular airport travelers. Personally, I have never had a problem being in the departure gate area at FLL by 9:00 am. However, I self disembark from the ship, ususally have a private car waiting, and am eligible for Sky Priority check in and security lines at FLL. (But it was stressful...so we opted not to try it again this year.)
sailor05 Posted September 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2010 That shouldn't be a problem. If it were between that and one much later, or if it's a lot cheaper I'd go for it.
