colover Posted August 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2010 Hi there, Since the Boatyard says they rent snorkeling equipment, can I assume there's some sort of snorkeling off their beach? Is there a reef of any sort or any interesting fish to see? I don't expect world class, but don't want to waste time lugging our snorkeling gear if there's nothing to see. Thanks! To be honest there isn't much directly off Boatyard -but if you walk about a half-mile to your left (as you face the water) until you come upon a small raised bandstand along our Esplanade and go out from there you should come across the wreck of the old tug Berwyn, sunk in 1916. She's covered in marine growth now she's been down there nearly 100 yrs. ;) She used to have some marker buoys up top of her.. and I think she's within a penned-off area safe for swimmers and snorkellers plus you might see others from snorkelling tours, in the area. That might be worth carrying your gear for. .
