Host Caroline Posted September 10, 2010 #26 Share Posted September 10, 2010 Is the fenicular easy to find ? We stayed in Quebec years ago and did a lot of walking but I don't remember seeing it. Does the ship dock close in to the city? Thanks, Patsy The ships dock in the lower part of the old city, very close to everything and you cannot miss the funicular. Just look up and you will see the Chateau Frontenac and the funicular going up and down just to the right and slightly below it. The lower city isn't that big = you will have no troubel finding the "station" in the lower town
YXU AC*SE Posted September 10, 2010 #27 Share Posted September 10, 2010 Here's what you are looking for: As Caroline says, it is hard to miss! :-) It is at the corner of rue Sous le Fort and rue du Petit-Champlain. Scott.

travelbig Posted September 10, 2010 #29 Share Posted September 10, 2010 http://www.quebecregion.com/en This site will send a wonderful map of Quebec City but you have to allow several weeks for the mailing. Click on "Contact Us" and on the next page look for "Order Literature", and then fill out the order form. I saved the map for future visits too. jplewis Posted September 14, 2010 #30 Share Posted September 14, 2010 Thanks so much for info about the funicular. We may have ridden it and I forgot. Does anyone know if there is an internet cafe near docks? Thanks, Patsy

Underwatr Posted October 26, 2010 #32 Share Posted October 26, 2010 You could do the walking tour and St Anne Church on your own. Buy a copy of this book for $9 and have a nice lunch with the money you'll save.

poulsbomary Posted October 27, 2010 #34 Share Posted October 27, 2010 We just got back from Quebec. Love this city! We spent three nights and just walked and explored. You really don't need an organized tour, except for maybe a guided walking tour of the old city. If you only have a day, stay in the city, and plan to do lots of walking. Sounds to me as if a guided tour would be recomended as an introduction.... after that go out on my own.
travelbig Posted October 27, 2010 #36 Share Posted October 27, 2010 Look back at post 29 for the web site I posted to request info about Quebec City. The map is really good and even lists the locations of public restrooms. Would be very handy if you are planning a walking tour on your own.
