I am planning a cruise for my sister and I on the 02/07/11 sailing of Elation out of Mobile. I have never sailed on Carnival but have sailed on both NCL and RCCL. I am trying to decide between the following three rooms...V34, V38 and U102. I know that U102 is pricier due to it being a Grand Suite and I'm trying to weigh out the price difference vs how obstructed the view actually is in the other two rooms. Can anyone provide pics of any of these rooms? Any opinions?

Iv also read and seen pics from the outside of the ship, that the V deck cabins are not very private.

Sorry, no pictures, but seen plenty on these forums.

The lower category suites will be more like a category 8 on Conquest class, smaller than a balcony on RCL on the newer ships.

Elation isnt one of the ships that had balconys added though, so you have to pay the suite price.

If it is your first Carnival ride then you should understand these are FUNSHIPS and you really will not be spending much time in your cabin if you join in on all the fun onboard day and night. So I would go with an inside cabin and spend the savings on your cruise extras. Those older ships don't have the normal balcony rooms as others have said and to go up to the big suites is expensive.
