Epic Review 08/28/2010 Hybrid cruise (Thanks Earl!)

Hi rosey1946, well as you know we ended up being re-routed by Hurricane Earl so we had not done a ton of research for the western ports. As a result we had no real plans when we arrived. I had been to Cozumel a few times before and we had a group of 17 of us. We basically got off the boat and went looking for someone to shuttle us around for the day (lots of willing participants even though Cozumel was fairly busy with 5 ships between the 2 ports as others had also moved from the Eastern Caribbean).

After a bit of negotiating, we settled on a price of $300 (original price was $25 pp or $425) for the day to shuttle around the island (it was the first time to Cozumel for most of our group), take us to the Cozumel Club, entrance fees, etc. Beer was $3, beach was decent, pool needed a paint job but was ok, snorkelling was great. The Cozumel Club is located at a resort that was damaged by Hurricane Wilma that they are slowly rebuilding but the ground area is all updated with full facilities...you just wouldn't want to be staying overnight! This picture will give you an idea of the snorkelling, the volume of fish, and the clarity of the water. I believe it was $10 to rent snorkel equipment onsite (including an inflatable vest) as others in our party did that however we had our own equipment.

While I am chatting about this, if anyone is thinking of doing the NCL ziplining tour in Cozumel I think you will be greatly disappointed. We did not do it but it is located at the same resort as Club Cozumel and is basically a few towers they built that might be 25-30 feet tall where you zip between them. Cozumel is a flat island and not great for zip lining. I forget the price but it was much more than the $45 we paid in Roatan for true ziplining across 13 lines where you were up to 100 feet over the valley below. If you want to zipline, there are 6 locations on Roatan to do so (we used South Shore Canopy Tours and they were very professional with 2 guides escorting the 3 of us from our group who went).

Where is that amazing bathroom located on the EPIC?

Someone posted there is a 'not to miss' public bathroom with an amazing view or is that the one in your cabin?

Loved your pics and all the words of sage advice on the new ship.

counting down our 3 weeks...

Hey Ridgeback, the bathrooms i was referring to are actually on the pool deck (deck 15) between the Aqua Park and The Great Outdoors with the mens / ladies on opposite sides of the boat. I posted a picture of the sink area with the large glass windows looking out a sea in post #24 of this thread.
