CHOPPERTESTER Posted September 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2010 We will be in Oahu arriving on the Carnival Spirit on Sept. 25th. It will be a Saturday. We plan on renting a car and driving in the afternoon to Hanauma bay since we don't know how long it will take to get the car at the airport, doubtful we could get there before 10am. If the parking lot is filled has anyone ever parked at Sea Life park and taken the bus to Hanauma bay? They are not far from each other and I think bus#22 goes to both. Kapuna Posted September 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2010 We were at Haunama bay this morning at 9:15 AM and the parking lot was not full . September tends to be a slow month except for Aloha Week ( next week ) .
jillyfish Posted September 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2010 We were there in early June. One day we went by 4 times and the parking lot was never full. The next day we WANTED to go Hanauma Bay, when we arrived the lot was full. We went along to another beach for about an hour and then went back, the lot was then open. There is also a pull off on the main road that people park and walk into Hanauma Bay, but personally, I can't imagine doing that hike to and from after all day of snorkeling and being in the sun. Sorry, can't answer your question about the bus. Just wanted to give you our experience.
annecolorgreen Posted September 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2010 FYI--it will be open late that night until 10 pm for night snorkeling. We will be there that day/night as well. I believe the parking lot clears out a bit in the afternoon--at least, that is what I'm hoping!!
CHOPPERTESTER Posted September 11, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted September 11, 2010 We're hoping that too, that it isn't that busy. It will be on a weekend so if the parking is closed our options are to go to koko crater gardens for a couple of hours or to park at Sea Life and take a bus from there back to Hanauma Bay. I saw that there is parking for 300 cars so we're hoping that some people just stay for the morning.
ddaz Posted September 12, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2010 The parking lot emptys out in the afternoon. So you should have no problem. I loved my visit to Hanauma Bay. Took several hundred photos with my underwater camera which I bought just for Hanauma Bay. Here is a link to a post with a couple of my photos http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=24848803&highlight=#post24848803
