Miami Beach Hotel

Sagamore, right by Lincoln Road is a nice place. The Ritz-Carlton is right next door, and if you have $$$$ you can't really go wrong there.

I like the Fountainebleu, but it's rather between Lincoln Rd and South Beach, isolated if you will. The Fountainebleu is a lovely hotel, built in the hey-day of "Miami Beach" as a destination, before Miami Vice. Think 1950's. I stayed there before the renovation and I thought it was wonderful, even then. They have an old-fashioned floor show at the Tropigala. One in English and one in Spanish, a complete and total hoot, and you won't see the likes of it outside of Vegas. It's been updated and renovated, so it's probably better than ever.

Rooms on South Beach are likely to be small and expensive, and depending on location, noisy. Better to take a cab down there than try to sleep amid it.

I like Lincoln Rd. It's a pedestrian shopping street. Lots of shops and cafe to explore. Brown & Company has all sorts of exotic unguents and creams.
