jlines Posted September 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2010 Has anyone rented a car in this port or should we just rely on taxis? We only have from noon to 7pm and wonder if any agency is open late enough. Are there any near the pier?
heijbroek Posted October 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2010 There are taxi's waiting outside the cruiseship which is an easier option as they are the only cars allowed on the adjacent street during docking. Here is an example of a Bonaire car rental if you would like your own car.
realtysandy Posted October 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2010 We rented a car in Bonaire and are renting again for February. It is easy driving...not many marked roads but I think there is only one road around the island. Rent a car!!! We rented from Divi Flamingo(Hertz) which is about a 5 minute walk to the right once off the pier. $40 for the day. We went snorkelling and in our drive we had to stop while the wild donkeys and goats crossed the road...we then took a drive to the saltflats to see the flamingoes then more snorklelling. It is a small island...we took our time and still had the car back an hour before we had to leave. Just follow the road and you will circle the island in no time! Roads are in good condition. Rare Host CJSKIDS Posted October 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2010 We've rented a few times on bonaire and it's a fantastic way to spend the day. We always used Budget at the airport. They simply picked us up and brought us back. It's an extremely easy island to navigate. Make sure to stop at the salt flats and Jibe City. Don't miss the other side of the island as well. I LOVE Bonaire and one day will get to it on a land vacation.
