Mz_IveZ Posted September 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2010 Anyone has played golf in either Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlan? Please, I need suggestions on golf courses. I wanna surprise my hubby since he loves golfing. A 9-hole would be fine due to time restriction. Thank you! :)
bobnsofi Posted September 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2010 (edited) We would choose Mazatlan, as PV has more to see & do; and PV has the bridge out to the nice courses north in Nuevo Vallarta. El Cid in Mazatlan has the popular golf course. You can likely arrange transport with them (google El Cid), or take a fun open air taxi. Mazatlan taxi Paradise Village golf course in Nueva Vallarta (north of Puerto Vallarta) Very nice, yet PV has many MANY nice areas to see Edited September 16, 2010 by bobnsofi
lovevacadays Posted September 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2010 Are you going to Cabo as well on your cruise? My understanding is they have some of the best golfing on the Mexican Riviera itinerary. However, I'm not a golfer so can't be that sure. Both PV and Mazatlan have so many more options in terms of things to see than Cabo so I am just imagining if I was a golfer I might want to golf in Cabo and take in the nature in PV and the history in Mazatlan. Enjoy your cruise and eat lots of guacamole and drink lots of margaritas!:D:D:D
bobnsofi Posted September 17, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2010 if I was a golfer I might want to golf in Cabo and take in the nature in PV and the history in Mazatlan. Well stated! Cabo does have outrageous world class golf courses right along the ocean front, and Cabo does have much less to see and do, overall, for a first time "learning the area" visit. A golf enthusiast would likely prefer a round at one of the "WOW" golf courses in Cabo. bobnsofi Posted September 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) And then, perhaps, a relaxing cool drink & snack while reflecting on the days birdies and eagles at the associated pool areas of the golf resorts. gregkn Posted September 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2010 The golf in Vallarta is excellent, especially El Tigre (Paradise Village) and both courses at Vista Vallarta. However, I agree that there is more to do in Vallarta, so Mazatlan is probably your best day for golf......Cabo courses are magnificent....my favourite there is Cabo Del Sol Desert Course at the Sheraton. The case against Cabo is the tendering ashore and shorter time. The best course, by far, in Mazatlan is Estrella Del Mar, a 30 minute ride from the ship, but a fabulous day out. The closing 5 holes are probably the most difficult you will play anywhere, especially if there is a good breeze....very challenging. The course is always in pristine condition, whereas El Cid, although a fun course, is not always in the best condition. Anyway, try these..... http://www.mazatlantoday.net/golf_courses_in_mazatlan.html http://www.estrelladelmar.com/Golf/Golf.htm hit them straight. Friends looking to golf in both of these ports.(they would take a taxi) Thanks.
MSN-Travelers Posted October 31, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Haven't played golf in Vallarta for quite a few years and then it was on the Marina course. The Marina course is very close to the port. These may be of some help: http://vallartainfo.com/golf.html http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g150793-c5962/Puerto-Vallarta:Mexico:Golf.Course.Directory.html Enjoy!
