bajathree Posted September 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Does anyone have a straight answer on this one.... How long a period of time from cancelling an existing resi qualifies for re-booking a new one for a "New Resi Only" reservation for the same sailing:confused:

marci22 Posted September 20, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2010 I don't know the exact answer, but here are rules for a prior wow sale: Any existing booking that is cancelled between May 11 – 18, 2010 and is rebooked for the same sailing on May 18 – 19, 2010 will not be eligible to receive the offer. Any eligible reservation that is cancelled after May 18 – 19, 2010 and is reinstated or the sailing is changed will not be eligible to receive the offer. Looks like 7 days before and limitless after. thelion Posted September 20, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Well, that depends. Are we talking a promotion? If so, never. They do searches for the same ship/sail date and matching names. If we are talking just a price, almost instant. But be wary of penalty - those prices usually come out once penalty is applicable. It may not be worth it. InsideCruiser Posted September 20, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2010 My understanding is that you can make name changes at no charge up until 35 days before sailing. So couldn't you rebook immediately with false names and correct the names later?
marci22 Posted September 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2010 One name has to stay on the reservation.

Ummmm...only if you happen to have a credit card with the "fake" name...otherwise how are you going to make your deposit?

bajathree Posted September 20, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Yea.... Marci...I was kind of going in that same direction of thinking using the WOW sale as a guide like you did. Lion...as far as "special promotion"....well that the 500lb gorilla in the corner.....what the heck does Royal consider and not consider a special promotion anymore :rolleyes: People who are grandfathered into the old rules prior to May 17th are coming back after final saying that when they tried to get a price drop after final they are being told some are for "new resi's only"...this is happening with some trying to upgrade as well....and these aren't any advertised special deals or Tuesdays sale rates...so it seems like they are changing the rules to make a special promotion just about anything they want. I doubt that unless we are talking a "WOW" sale or "advertised special" of some sort that is giving OBC or reduced deposit that they would go back and tell you that you had a resi prior to final but cancelled it and then 1-4 weeks after final went back to book re-book it and they refuse you .....but that is what I am talking about here....is there a set number of days or any specific policy on this:confused:

Lion.....if they don't do that for WOW sales....the window is only 7 days.....what kind of "specials" are you taking about that you say are never:confused:

If you cancel and a promo comes along a week or 2 later, you certainly can book it. You just can't cancel when you find a promo has been announced and rebook it.
