Not really any amazing, can't miss bars, but there are a lot of fun places. Where to go depends a bit on your tastes & age range:

 

*younger crowd (college age to mid/late 20s) typically would prefer hanging in Ybor City. There are an abundance of bars close together, with a wide variety of music, atmosphere, etc. Somewhat like a Bourbon Street, on a smaller scale.

 

*slightly older crowd (30s or so) more typically hit either the places in Channelside or the places in the SoHo area (south Tampa, mostly located on South Howard Ave, hence the SoHo).

 

If you're in town for an evening pre-cruise, any cabby would be able to get you to any of these areas.

I second the SOHO area. It has many watering holes, all with different themes, within a small walking radius.
