ladyjane Posted September 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2010 We will be cruising to Alaska in May, 2011. The one excursion we want to do for sure is the helicopter glacier icefield excursion in Juneau. We'd like to book now. What if it's cancelled because of weather, etc. Do we get our money back? We are thinking of going with a private company because it's $75.00 cheaper per person. NCL's website says it's non-refundable.
loliola Posted September 29, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2010 We did the helicopter/glacier landing in Juneau through Coastal; they refund if they cancel due to weather, which is pretty often. We lucked out on an absolutely gorgeous day - loved it!
PennyAgain Posted September 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2010 Your money is safe and I bet NCL refunds for weather as well. Get an idea of the 2 tours and see if you are saving real money or getting less (or more!)
chipmaster Posted September 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2010 Weather related are ALL refunded, you can call/email them to confirm. BTW all cruise line sponsored that are weather related cancelations include refund. The refund you are reading about is that since this is so high demand tour that often sells out they allow you to prebook on most lines and cancelation only during the first day of the cruise after which they don't offer refunds. More so because the space is limited and the dmeand is "high." Actually on our cruise in July their were helicopter available the evening before we docked. Good luck, and do pre-reserve and go if your budget can afford it, well worth the pricey money! We will be cruising to Alaska in May, 2011. Krazy Kruizers Posted September 30, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2010 A couple of years ago when we were Juneau -- May -- the weather was really bad -- windy -- heavy rain -- foggy. All the flight seeing tours were cancelled and everyone's money was refunded -- ship excursions and private tours.
