From the port, you can walk up to the bus stop for bus #112 (it's near the Tourist Info Office, uphill past the casino...or take one of the elevators to get up to the higher streets.)

Maps of Monte Carlo with the bus stop for #112 are a little hard to come by on the internet ... the best one I've found is in Rick Steves guidebook. Here's a link & if you can scroll back to page 633, you'll see where the stop is - #10 on the map. (The easiest way to scroll through the pages is by using the arrows at the top centre of the page, just above the map.)

I think you would benefit from having a guidebook such as Rick Steves Provence and the French Riviera ... both for the information and maps. I was able to borrow a copy from our local library.

Here's the Monday-Saturday schedule for bus #112. To go from Monaco>Eze, use the 4th column, to return from Eze>Monaco, use the 2nd column. Be sure to take a copy of the schedule with you as the buses run infrequently. The bus is 1 euro/person/ride & it's best to have either coins or small bills to give the bus driver. Be sure to validate the ticket that he gives you, by inserting it into the machine on the bus.

Hi Harry,

In post 2 of the thread just a few down from this one, re transportation from Villefranche to eze and Nice, I've posted details on taking the bus to Nice, along with a map of VIllefranche showing where the bus stop is. There's also a link to the schedule for #100.

Thanks..Do the bus stops have signs that indicate which direction they are headed?

Yes (see this photo) - but you'll want to be sure you are standing at the right bus stop ... i.e. in Villefranche, bus stops for buses headed towards Monaco are on the side of the road closest to the port, and bus stops for those headed to Nice are across the street.

Do the bus stops have the online schedules posted too?

Some bus stops have schedules posted, but not sure if all do. I would print and take the schedules for the buses that you are going to be using, for the day/time that you'll be there. You can get them from the Ligne d'azur site.

  • 3 weeks later...

Susan, We will be there on a Tuesday in May on the Princess Ruby and will be tendering. We are supposed to be there from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The schedule shows 11:25 and 1:20 from Monte Carlo - I don't think we could possibly make the 11:25 bus so we'd probably get to Eze around 1:35. It shows that there is one leave Eze at 2:35 and one at 4:35. Do you think if we took the 4:35 bus back we would be able to make it back to the ship in time? Do you know if there is always room on the bus? Would it be worth making the trip if we had to come back on the 2:35 bus? We'd only be there an hour - is that long enough to just walk around a little and see the view? Is the bus stop in a good location in Eze or do you have to walk far before you are in the main part? Thanks for any help you can give.

Yes ... about 15-20 minutes on the bus, and another 10-15 minutes to walk to the port.

I'm not sure ... perhaps a good question to ask on the Eze Tripadvisor forum.

Yes, an hour is OK, but another option that would give you some extra time is coming back on #83 (from Eze Village towards Eze Bord du Mer) and connecting with #100 back to Monte Carlo (#83 and #100 share a few stops in common ... you could transfer anywhere from Eze-Gianton to Eze bord de Mer Gare SNCF. #83 runs infrequently, so you'll need to check the schedule for it, but #100 runs every 20 minutes, so not a long wait to transfer. Taking #112 there, and #83/100 back will give you a different view on the way back. The stop for #100 in MC is at the port (whereas the stop for #112 is uphill from the port, past the casino.)

Is the bus stop in a good location in Eze or do you have to walk far before you are in the main part?
The bus stop is at the base of the village...about a 10 minute walk uphill to where the shops are. The garden (where the spectacular views are from) is at the top of the village.
