I know which way I'm leaning, but thought I'd type it out to get other's thoughts and see if there's anything I hadn't considered.

 

We booked an inside guarantee (IS) at resident rates a couple of weeks ago. Today I can have a 4C at past guest rates for the same amount. Should I call my PVP to switch? There are no 4As, at least 10 4Bs, at least ten 4Cs, one 4D and no 4Es left for four passengers. Cruise is five weeks away.

When I booked a cruise 8 days before, only 4F and higher left (2 insides), so my PVP was telling me I had great chance of a upgrade if I booked this cruise...upsell fairy started calling and moving everyone up.

 

I wound up with a 4B. Not terrible, just saying dont count on a upgrade based on cabins available 5 weeks out.

A 4 is a 4, is a 4, is a 4, the letter means nothing, the cabins are the same. If you want a certain location, BOOK that location, NOT a GTY.
