This was the "review" she posted about 5 minutes before this one in her Roll Call thread:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=26508367&highlight=#post26508367

Her OP on this thread seems much more critical.
I think she must have popped over here and written a quick review of the not so great "highlights" of her cruise. Seemed to be in a hurry and didn't think through. The thread here was written and posted just 5 minutes after her Roll Call post and she hasn't been back to CC. Sounds like they had a pretty good time despite the troubles (just as we did on the Carnival Glory, but with problems and not our favorite cruise.)

BTW - What difference does it make what the OP says their stateroom cost? Obviously, they were in a Suite (VIP), and could have had more than 2 persons in the cabin with them. It can add up, especially if she is combining what they spent onboard. Good thing she won some money in the casino. :)

You could have dozens of positive reviews and people will remember the few negatives. I don't buy that all the negative ones are true. If they come in with a general post and do not go into detail, it makes me suspicious. Also, a low post count is odd, too. Why would someone make their first post so negative?

I've never seen a fight on a Carnival cruise. I have seen drunken behavior on a Royal Caribbean cruise. For more detail, we were on the Radiance of the Seas. It was early November (not Thanksgiving).

As to the Dream, it does seem to have some problems they need to address. However, I've seen so many positive reviews that I tend to think it's a good ship!

To the person who complained the pizza wasn't ready..
Depending on when you get to the pizza station can determine if you have to wait. I think waiting on a pizza means it's freshly cooked and hot!
Unless the OP comes back on here with more information, I am not buying this review for one second.

Nobody pays $4K for a suite unless they had 3+ people in there and are including all of their expenses in the price.

I cry foul!
Umm did you look at the price for a GS low season (hurricane)? The prices WITHOUT taxes and port fees is 4058.00 for two pax.
You know what these kind of threads really bemuse me...I am very new to CC and only joined after booking my first full cruise (only other one being on the monarch for 3 days)...

I am usually found lurking on that costa boards as I'm going on the atlantica in a few weeks...Now over there, there's certainly a mixed bag of reviews, as you would expect but on 2 occasions now people have put up threads like this and people have chipped in with questions wanting to know a bit more and explain what they meant by certain things...
Its funny because they also described themselves '5 star traveller' as oppsed to VIP cabin :D (whatever that means)...Also, mentioned being attacked would you believe... Asked whether that meant physically or verbally...
We asked OP over and again if they would come back and explain in full a bit better as much of it had been quite a ramble and not a lot of sense, but they just never came back, which I found really sad...

Whilst of course its everybodies right to come on here and post as they see fit, I am now wondering what they get out of posting and then disappearing leaving us wonder and ponder...Just dont get it really:confused::(
Never fear....they did not "disappear". Since there is no way to verify identity on CC, they already created a new ID screen name and will be posting again shortly the same thing to "verify" the facts of their other screen name.
CC only has half the members it appears to have......many people count as 5 or more ID's, usually to promote an agenda......Look for the "I will never sail Carnival, I am going to RCL"

I'd like to see CC verify identity like they do on other sites, only then will you know that responding to 10 different postings means 10 different people, not 1 idiot with 10 screen names.

So true...and we all have them, but the Carnival cheerleaders will not admit them.

That would be nice, but how do you know that the OP "already created a new ID screen name"?

We were on the Dream sailing the week before yours and it could not had been a better cruise. Never did we smell the smell and we were all over the ship, the spa and staff were great, all the staff we ran into were the friendliest we have met, the ship was spotless and was the prettiest we had sailed on Carnival. The food was good not spectacular but good, the dining room staff was fantastic some of the best. We have sailed over 40 times on various cruise lines just for a bit of backround.

Sorry the OP had issues,
Tom

Most ships will have the sewer smell at some point.......one of the downfalls of using a vacuum system.

We have learned to add water to the sink and shower. Also by keeping the toilet seat shut, tends to cut down on the smell.

When the Fantasy came out of drydock after having the Waterworks and the other upgrades done, stepping off the elevator was like hitting a wall of sewer smell. It took them a couple of weeks to finally resolve it. If you think it was bad for the passengers, dont forget about the crew. It had to be horrid for them.
Just got off the Dream, many many issues on that Ship. They need to take that one off the fleet and re-do the staff, and Guest Service policies. My list is long of the problems we had on that ship, right down to a VIP cabin that smelled like a sepic tank all week. Come on 4000.00 for a cabin that smelled. Fights in the halls late at night and no one would answer at Guest Services, SHORT STAFFED everywhere. And it goes on and on. But I am going to stop here because I just want to forget about it and book with RCCL next time !
Let's be a little bit fair here, folks. This woman returned from her vacation yesterday and wrote a quick review less than 24 hours ago. Let's not assume she is a hit and run poster who we will never see again. Some people - after spending a week on a criuse - have a few other things on their plates the first couple of days after they get back.

I would like to hear more from her too, since I have a trip on the dream booked in 6 months. I hope she returns and provides some details. But if she comes back in the next couple of days and reads what is written about her posts, I am not sure she will want to post anything further and I am not sure I would blame her.

OP posted this in another thread......sounds like she actually had a good cruise afterall......

"Hello all,
Since we only live 15 minutes away, I think we would be the first to post a postcruise reply. Though it was ok, I was not impressed with the ship !! it seemed like they had been short on staff or something, I was just ok with it. We had a lot of family fun, once everyone got on board so we didn't get a chance to meet and greet with ya'all. We did enjoy Atlantis, and did loads and loads of shopping in the other two ports. We had some issues on the ship, but not worth writing about. My husband was Elvis last night, at the Legends Show and would had shaked it a bit more but his pants would had fallen off he said.. LOL
I did great in the Casino even so that I had to fill out a Tax form which they ever so kindly left under my door this morning, like are you kidding me...wake up to a 1040? earnings form !! Whateverrrrrrr... I spent it in the Islands, so does that count as a loss of income ?? LOL..
Hope everyone had fun, and gets home safe. It was fun reading all your posts and maybe will run into ya again on another roll call. Our next is in May on the Oasis, then November for my dauther and a bunch of family for her 21st. Not sure which ship but not the Dream !
Till then, God Bless and if anyone did Karaoke, you will know this.. V a c a t i o n whoo whoo !! LOL"

I agree with ya! BTW, I was on this sailing as well. Wife and I had a cove balcony. We smelled the smell on our deck more than anywhere else. We smelled it daily.....but we were cruisin' and really didn't care! We too had some minor issues with service, mainly in the dining room. With these minor issues considered.....we booked the same cruise onboard for May 2011 for our whole family. This boat has a ton of activities for families and St. Thomas and St. Martin were incredible.

I just booked the Dream for next August. I booked Early Saver too. And now I read another review with fights?? Was this the same cruise as the one where they posted a video of the fight in Caliente?? I thought that was earlier in the month??? Are they having a problem with fights? I don't want to be in the middle of a gang fight on our cruise.

I would like to add my .02's to this thread. I have been on several Carnival and other lines, and I am always amused that people think that cruising is going to be perfect...life isn't..so WHY do they think a cruise will be! I am a TA and I have a group of 17 booked on this cruise and most have never been on a cruise before, Me & DH are part of this group. I am so looking forward to it! I have learned there are always people that either like or dislike the same exact cruise. I liked what another poster said--a bad day cruising is better than a good day working!! I agree with that completely! Go with an open mind and see what happens!
Vip cabin...maybe it was an upsell that came with vip status. Price could be total that was paid for all guests in the cabin. We just paid 4k for three of us in a balcony room for the 12/23 dream sailing.
You can amost always expect higher fares when it is around xmas time!!

I don't think either of these incidents were "gang" fighting.
Usually just drunken disputes between a couple of people hanging out in the bars.

Let's not get people saying there is gang war-fare on Carnival now... THAT would get some really going! LOL

corvettelady posted this;
I wouldn't call the Dream my favorite ship but we had a good cruise on her. We were on deck 11 and never smelled the "smell". My biggest complaint was not being able to get a good seat for the shows. It sure wasn't enough to stop cruising on Carnival

My thoughts are about the same, we sailed Dream Jan. of this year.
My wife loved the Dream but I like a ship that is a little smaller, mid size.

the biggest problem we had was one person tring to save a whole row at the shows, just never happened.
I do not think there is an "owner suite" on the Dream like there is on the smaller ships. I do not think they are $4000 either. When we priced our cruise, the Category 12 suites were no where near $4000 and it was May, not hurricane season when bookings are slow because of the potential weather problems
two traverlers in what they call the Grand Suite will exceed 4,000, two travelers with children will exceed that amount in most suites.

My guess is Carnival. Poster stated that he/she was going back to RCLL.
I'll bid my farewells also. I've have had a couple of 'not perfect' cruises, but never one I wasn't glad I went on! ;)
Luv's Crusin'
I certainly have been on a Carnival cruise I wish I had not been on, I am giving them one final try before I switch. I'll be on the Dream in less than three weeks and I am already experiencing problems with Carnival's customer service. Hopefully the ship's crew can make up for the ineptitude of the front office.

Read the posts, the OP gets savaged with people indicating he/she is basically a liar. Why would they come back, so they can be villified.
