Aline13 Posted November 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2010 Does anyone know how much the rates are to use the internet - are there computers set up already and where on the Ruby would this be located? Thank you.
paul929207 Posted November 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2010 There is an internet cafe on all Princess ships. Cost is $3.95 setup fee plus either 75 cents per minute, or you can buy a package: $55 = 100 minutes $75 = 150 $100 = 250 $175 = 500. If you buy a package online before the cruise, you get some bonus minutes. If you buy the first day, you also get bonus minutes, but not as many. Aline13 Posted November 1, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted November 1, 2010 Is the set-up fee a one-time fee, and then I could just quickly send an e-mail back home and do this every couple of days for only 75 cents a minute?

Yes the $3.95 fee is a one time fee. But even sending an email every couple of days will be worth puchasing one of the smaller internet packages to save a few dollars. The Internet is Satellite connection (think very very slow dial up at most times), and just composing and sending a short email can take you up to 10 minutes or more. ;)

In a word: Yes. Although the word quickly is very rarely used in a sentence discussing onboard internet use on Princess. Lew

paul929207 Posted November 1, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 1, 2010 An alternative would be to find an internet cafe in port. Prices are much lower. If you are interested, ask your cabin steward or waiter. They know the cheap places.

Another thing to watch for is usually once or twice they will have an internet special for the day where you can get some extra free minutes or a cheaper price. Watch for it in your Patter. Have fun!!
