cigloo Posted November 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2010 OK, we have the cruise booked, working on the shore excursions but now we need flights. It's been crazy trying to figure it out. We are need to fly home from Singapore to Europe and can land in London, Frankfurt or Amsterdam. Or if we have to we can go back to Hong kong and fly from there? Not sure what to do.
paul929207 Posted November 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2010 Have you tried Kayak.com? They are usually best when you are looking for flights that do not qualify as open jaws.

Why would you go back to Hong Kong? A sample fare on Emirates Singapore to Amsterdam with stopover in Dubai on mar 1 2011 is $633.00 Not sure what extras are not included. (taxes? fuel surcharge? luggage allowance? etc.)

Or if we have to we can go back to Hong kong and fly from there? Not sure what to do. To avoid buying horrendously-priced one-way tickets you need an airline which offers "open jaw" returns, returning to your original departure point but from a different place. This requires an airline which serves all three places. British Airways is an obvious open-jaw candidate but probably not the cheapest - they quoted just under £600 fully-inclusive per person on random dates feb/march for their open-jaw package London-HK / Singapore-London http://www.britishairways.com/travel/fx/public/en_gb?eId=111024&DM1_Mkt=UK&DM1_Channel=AFF&DM1_Campaign=AO&DM1_Site=AffiliateWindow&utm_source=AffiliateWindow&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=AffiliateWindow&awc=2601_1288920606_71534c75acb9c69f89d9ed1a5a69c8eb By seeking two separate single-flight bookings, the same flights would cost £938 to HK & £496 from Singapore, a grand total of £1434 per person.:eek::eek: Or google "open jaw flights" for agencies which specialise. Happy huntin' John Bull Bang on. The fare search engine I use quoted British Airways as the cheapest. London to HK and Singapore to London at under US$900. for both flights including taxes and security surcharges. leaving early march 2011 and returning mid march. maryann ns Posted November 5, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 5, 2010 The search engines such as Kayak call the open jaw flights 'multi city'. Look for it as an option.

kuldalai Posted November 5, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 5, 2010 I gather your cruise departs from Hong Kong and finishes in Singapore and you live in Europe or UK . One option would be to fly with Qantas QF: - London to Hong Kong , or Frankfurt/Singapore and up to Hong Kong on a Code Share with another airline in the Alliance . - For the return or you can fly with Qantas QF from Singapore direct to either Frankfurt or London . If you fly with Cathay Pacific everything is hubbed out of Hong Kong : Viz: Several European cities direct to Hong Kong, and for the return you would fly Cathay - Singapore to Hong Kong then connect Cathay direct to several European cities. If you fly with Singapore Airrines then everything is hubbed out of Singapore. So forward several European cities to Singapore direct then connect Singapore air up to Hong Kong . On return direct from Singapore to several European cities. The last two options are probably your best . Both these options have what TA call an "open jaw" a leg you do not use . Talk to your TA or go online to either the Cathay Pacific or Singapore Airrines websites and do a dummy booking but first up select the Option > Multiple leg trip tehn follow the prompts. Youw ill get available flights for your required dates to select by leg, and finally a quoted price .
CruisingGoddess Posted November 10, 2010 #9 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Not sure if you figured this out yet but if you haven't, you may also want to try posting on the Cruise Air board: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=128 I posted a question about my Asia flights and got a TON of help. They are really knowledgable over there. Good luck!
