Question about Carry on Luggage-Delta Air

I went to the Delta web site and got the restrictions on luggage. My question is, Do you know how many carry ons you are allowed. I would like to take a small rolling suitcase (meets requirements) and a backpack also. Is this to many? I am checking 4 bags (two passengers) but need to know about the carry on luggage.

One carry on and one personal item, such as a purse, camera bag, laptop computer etc...per person.

That one personal item must also be of a size to fit under the seat in front of yours.
