RichRuth11 Posted November 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2010 Hi, We are sailing on Sun Princess Cherry Blossom cruise in March 2011. This is our first cruise & we would very much like to do a tour of the ship. I saw on the www.princess.com.au website this info... Princess Cruises Ultimate Ship Tour® A Behind-the-Scenes Adventure Princess passengers can get an exclusive glimpse at the behind-the-scenes action onboard a Princess ship with the Princess Cruises Ultimate Ship Tour® — a cruise industry first. The tour is offered once or twice per cruise on a sea day, and allows passengers to explore the engine control room, medical center, print shop, laundry, photo lab, bridge, and other areas typically seen only by the ship’s crew. The final stop of the tour is the ship’s command center, where passengers will meet the Captain, enjoy special refreshments and take in the dramatic views from the bridge’s wraparound windows. Participants will also receive a variety of themed mementos at many other stops along the route. Available on all ships except for Royal Princess, Pacific Princess and Ocean Princessom, medical center, print shop, laundry, photo lab, bridge, and other areas typically seen only by the ship’s crew. The final stop of the tour is the ship’s command center, where passengers will meet the Captain, enjoy special refreshments and take in the dramatic views from the bridge’s wraparound windows. Participants will also receive a variety of themed mementos at many other stops along the route. But could not find any way to book it or enquire about it. None of the email sites on the website seem to help Hope one of you experienced cruisers can assist us, Cheers, Rich & Ruth
manoz Posted November 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2010 Hi, Rich and Ruth, I did the Ultimate Ship Tour on the Coral Princess in April this year and it was great. I am a ship lover and have always wanted to see "behind the scenes" especially the mooring deck, engine control room and the Bridge. There are lots of other interesting places to see, too. The charge was US$150.00 per person and you book it at the Purser's Desk. Suggest you do that as soon as you get on board as this is a popular activity and numbers are limited - just 15 on mine. Have fun! Tom
Underwatr Posted November 9, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2010 Holy crap. I'd like to do a tour like that, but $150 worth? I guess they can charge whatever they want, and as long as they're filling the tours...
paul929207 Posted November 9, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2010 We have not done the Ultimate Ships Tour, but have not seen anyone complaining that it was not worth it.
CalGal777 Posted November 9, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2010 DH did it on our last Princess cruise and thought it well worth the money. You also get robe and its a nice heavy one not at all cheap. A chef's jacket, stationary, a picture of the group including the Captain and signed by him. ShipsandDipper Posted November 9, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 9, 2010 We just did this on the Star Princess and were happy we did (wouldn't do it again, due to the cost, but felt it was worth it once). We visited the Guest Services desk early on embarkation day and asked to sign up. They said it was first come, first served, maximum of 12. Just a side note, we didn't hear anything about the tour until about day 8 or 9 of our 12-day cruise. Then we got a letter saying, meet at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow (the last sea day). So if you sign up and don't hear anything right away, it doesn't mean that there will be no tour.
