Planer's Edge Posted November 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2010 It all depends on what you are comparing them too? They are quite tasty but I think my own are much better. PE
jeannep Posted November 10, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2010 My wife and I are really looking forward to having buffalo wings on board the Gem... my question is, are they any good?? The Blue Lagoon has delicious wings and alot of other good things. Try the spinach dip, fish and chips, delicious breakfasts and brownie sundaes. There are also other things that are as good. Enjoy Jeanne
silkhair1 Posted November 10, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 10, 2010 I like the wings at the Blue Lagoon. I guess if you don't, just don't get them again. Taste is so subjective!
johnql Posted November 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 10, 2010 I like the Blue Lagoon's wings. I only wish their "hot" wings were a little hotter. But it's completely subjective, so YMMV.
jame_g Posted November 11, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2010 We didn't care for them. So it's all a matter of taste because we don't understand the comments from the people who constantly rave about them.
PurpleLaurie55 Posted November 11, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted November 11, 2010 Thanks for the replies! We aren't terribly picky. We like the bone-in wings at Applebees and Buffalo Wild Wings.... just not gooey, chewy ones :) We used to go for 1/2 price apps at Applebees before we had our son. We haven't gone in forever (they are pretty pricey at full price) and are keeping our fingers crossed that the Blue Lagoon will be good! I appreciate your opinions, although I know it's always a matter of your individual taste.
luddite Posted November 11, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2010 If you like the food at Applebee's , you'll love the food on the ship.

They were good, however I've had better.

luddite Posted November 11, 2010 #11 Share Posted November 11, 2010 Ah! Your comment made me a little nervous... I'm not crazy about the food at Applebees... just like the wings! :) Well, with enough beer or Cosmos, I can choke down the food at Applebee's. Assuming that I'm on a trip and away from home. hunterJay Posted November 11, 2010 #12 Share Posted November 11, 2010 They're a good solid wing meant to appease the masses (not too spicy). If you get them in the main dining room be sure you ask for more than one order. I got them as an appetizer for lunch one day and they brought me 2 wings. Seriously. I thought someone was playing a joke on me (I'm 6'2" and 260lbs). It was no joke.
gatorsfam Posted November 11, 2010 #13 Share Posted November 11, 2010 I'm for sure going to give them a try again.. they didn't leave an 'I won't ever forget those wings' impression on me last time... maybe this time they will
KevinsCruising Posted November 11, 2010 #14 Share Posted November 11, 2010 Every night after a late night at the casino or bar, I would pick up a plate of wings from Blue Lagoon and bring back to the cabin. On the Gem, Dawn & Jewel. AWESOME !!!! Sailing the Sky this Monday...no Blue Lagoon but I believe the have a bar called the Longboard that also offer wings.......hope so

madsprinkles Posted November 11, 2010 #17 Share Posted November 11, 2010 They are food service wings, fried and tossed in sauce. They are bar food, not haute cuisine! Get a grip.

So it's all a matter of taste because we don't understand the comments from the people who constantly rave about them. We didn't care for them either and don't understand why people rave about them. They were just OK but I certainly have had much better in local restaurants and in my own home. Glad there is someone else out there who didn't think they were that good:)

You can get the wings mild or hot. We always order double.

Rare Turtles06 Posted November 11, 2010 #23 Share Posted November 11, 2010 I tried the wings on the Jewel, and I also don't understand all the rave. They were good, however I've had better. I like most of the food on NLC ships, but don't understand the raves for the Blue Lagoon. Mediocre food and poor service, aberrational in terms of the service and food elsewhere aboard. (Yes, all very subjective. I'm happy others are pleased with BL.)

I have to say that I do agree with this. Although I have not eaten at Blue Lagoon on my last few cruises--so am hoping the food is better by now! I did love the fish 'n chips, though. And the pound cake. The spinach dip was disgusting when I had it--like water. Maybe it was just a bad day. The wings are OK but that's it. But maybe I am spoiled having lived for 15 years in Buffalo Wings country! :D
shepherdqueen Posted November 11, 2010 #25 Share Posted November 11, 2010 Food is so subjective. DH & I enjoyed the wings and had them as a snack almost daily. I LOVED the cheesecake! I hated the chicken tenders. Everyone's tastes are different.
