Dancing with the Stars & 2nd city comedy

Two questions for you pls:

 

I've heard mentioned the Dancing with the stars on the board - can anyone elaborate on how this works on the cruise?

 

Also I've seen in the dailies a chance to perform with 2nd city comedy troupe during the day on the sea days. Did anyone try that and what was it like?

Dancing With the Stars was a popular event on the Jewel. Before the show, they set up a table and you could put your name in a bucket if you wanted to participate. They drew names a random..a bucket for males and one for females. I think they picked four or five of each sex. They even had a losers lounge with the assistant cruise director and they showed it on screen.

We also went to the Second City workshop. The cast picked people who had their hands up.

So what was the 2nd city workshop like?

 

And the losers lounge? I don't understand...

On the Gem 2 summers ago, Dancing with the Stars paired passenger volunteers with NCL Employee "Stars". The employees ranged from bartenders, stewards, to members of the cruise director staff. No idea about the losers loungs.

Dancing with the Stars is hilarious. It is live and was a welcome change from the Newlywed Game that has been around for years.

 

It is held in the Spinnaker Lounge and there are 5 NCL employees who dance with 5 passengers who volunteer to participate. The crew members are really into it and it is all done on the spot with no rehearsing and they have great senses of humor.

 

After each dance the audience votes by applauding for each of the couples and one couple will be elimitated after each dance. The assistant CD is in another area, the "loser's lounge" and a live video was shown on a screen in the Spinnaker with her acting as a news correspondent with a microphone interviewing the passenger who was voted off. They say some very funny jokes, and again it is all live and very funny and unpredictable.
