PATRIOTSRULE Posted November 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2010 What is the best thing to do while here. I think I want to do something that involves water. Is snuba any good at all or should we snorkel somewhere. Looking for any suggestions. Is there anyplace that offers snorkling and a beachstop? Scooby450 Posted November 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2010 I highly recommend Tabyana Beach! Great beach and the reef is incredible. My favorite place on this cruise. We are ziplining while there this time but I am sure there will be time for snorkelling.
Irishlinny Posted November 24, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2010 You can book a private island tour with Victor Bodden and have your own driver for the day. He will take you anywhere you want to go. It will cost around $100 for 4 people, but well worth it. If you go to Tabayana beach, you can snorkel right from there. It is a good half hour away, but you get to see the gorgeous mountains and scenery along the way. The West Bay beaches (including Tabayana) are just beautiful...much better than the man-made Mahogany Bay which is next to the port. You can stop at Victor's home, where he has a sanctuary for rescued animals (mostly monkeys and parrots) and hold the monkeys...that's always fun. He also has a zipline there (extra cost). You can look at his site (boddentours dot com) for ideas of things to do. Then wind up at the beach (the driver will wait there for as long as you want to stay). Have you looked at the Ports of Call section of the boards yet? You may get some other ideas there. I recommend Victor's outfit because we have used them twice and they are great! But something else may strike your fancy;) Have fun....this is our favorite port!!:)
elcuchio24 Posted November 24, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2010 tabyana is awesome, lots of different stuff to do, or just sit around a beautiful beach and do nothing. Foods good, great snorkeling, great for the kids. Have fun!

evandbob Posted November 24, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 24, 2010 I will emphasize that West End/Tabyana Beaches as the best on the isle, followed by Maya Cay. Snorkeling is good off both of these beaches. Many cruisers will choose the convenient Mahagony Beach, which is right next to the new pier, but it really is just a manmade facsimile of what a true Caribbean beach is like.
