Hiiiii,

We are gonna be in Grand Cayman on 8th September 2011 with the FOS & are just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this question.

It says that we will arrive at 8am - is this local time or ship time.

We have booked a tour to Stingray City that leaves at 9.30am independantly do you think we will be able to make this or should I change it to the one that leaves at 12noon??

I know the times are sometimes different so really not sure.

The Cayman Islands follow Eastern Standard Time. Daylight Savings Time is NOT observed. Suggest you check with the cruise line regarding how your ship will observe time to be certain.

Since booked with an independent operator, your excursion most likely departs at 9:30 EST.

If you ship arrives at 8:00 EST/9:00 EDT you should be OK, giving yourself 1 hour to tender and 1/2 an hour to reach your rendezvous point.

If it arrives at 8:00 EDT/7:00 EST you would also be OK, just with more time to kill.

Hopefully that makes sense.

On September 8, I don't think the US is back to daylight savings time yet, is it?

If that's the case, then Cayman time should be the same time as Miami during your cruise. If your ship leaves from Miami, you're likely to be on the same time.

DST lasts all of September and October.

Looks like a lot of us have this issue. The research I have done is the following.! The ship is on USA time. Daylight savings time for 2011.extends from March 13 to Oct 6th.Grand Cayman observes .only Eastern standard time. Therefore any cruise sailing in the above time period will arrive 1 hour ahead of Grand Caymon time.I would advise anyone to call their tour operator or email to verify I just did that this morning to Moby Dick tours.I will let you all know the response. :D Yup...I got it backwards for some reason...and I spend enough time in Cayman you'd think I'd get the time thing figured out, or at least that I'd remember it off the top of my head. Winter...same time. Summer...one hour ahead. Sorry for any confusion...

For the landlubber tourists on holiday, who wants to keep track of time?;)

No kidding... :D There's some trips where I have trouble even keeping track of what day of the week it is, let alone remember what time it is at home...

on NCL they adjust the ship time to the local time...in the dalies each night they tell you to turn your clock ahead or back depending on where you are going...on my cruise last month we moved back going to grand caymen...back another hour for the next day going to cozumel and then ahead 1 hr on each of the two nights heading home.....ship time = local time

Hey... So just to be sure in January USA and Cayman Islands are the same time? I am trying to book an excursion and received a confusing reply back about time from the vendor.

In January, the observed time in the Cayman Islands will be the same as the East Coast of the US.
