Immisspriss Posted November 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2010 We just got an email today from Carnival- our 6/26/11 Legend cruise that we had strategically planned to coincide with our daughters graduation, work around Summer football practice for our son, and evade hurricane season has now been changed. Instead it is now a Western Carribean cruise (The Legend's usual route). We have no desire to visit these locations. We will not travel to Mexico under any circumstances. We were looking forward to the Bahamas, HMC and Key West. We have already been to Aruba, Curacao, St. Martin, St. Thomas, San Juan, etc. Urgghh!! This cruise was meant to be a graduation present to our daughter, and was specifically chosen because she doesn't care for those locations. Does anyone have any suggestions (even if it's another cruise line) that has a similar 7 day route?
firefly333 Posted November 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Just a FYI, after you are notified of a itinerary change, I think you only have 24 hours to cancel, .. only matters if you are booked ES in this case. Conquest and Triumph both do that route out of Galveston and New Orleans.
golfadj Posted November 30, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Have you gone to the Carnival website for that week and seen where they will go. Freedom and Miracle both go to other islands.
Fisical1 Posted November 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2010 The Valor has a great itinerary leaving that day. I did this with NCL and it was one of the best places we have been. Took great excursions. You can also cruise on the Allure of the Seas it goes to Nassau or the Freedom of the Seas Hope you find something that works for you. Carnival has in their fine print that at any given time without notification, they can change the itinerary for any given reason. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Carnival changed their locations. This happened to us on one of our cruises. They changed one of the locations, but we knew this when we booked it.

Conquest and Triumph both do that route out of Galveston and New Orleans. The email says we have 10 days, and if we had previously booked our travel (which thank goodness we had not) they would reimburse us $200.00 per pax
Irishlinny Posted November 30, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Have you gone on Carnival's website to see what else is available that might interest you? If there is nothing, then maybe start looking at the other lines. You seem to be very specific in what you want, so a little hard for us to make recommendations... Rare Tapi Posted November 30, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Just curious. Are you sailing on the Carnival Legend or the Legend of the Seas? Your clock says Legend of the Seas but it seems like you are referring to the Carnival Legend on your post:confused:
halos Posted November 30, 2010 #9 Share Posted November 30, 2010 We will not travel to Mexico under any circumstances. May I ask why?
cruzin4our10th Posted November 30, 2010 #10 Share Posted November 30, 2010 The Liberty and Valor both go out of Miami and do Half Moon Cay, San Juan, St Thomas & Grand Turk. It's a great itnierary! I realize you said you'd done San Juan and St. Thomas, but you'd be hard pressed to find an Eastern itinerary not hitting at least one of the ports you've alread been to. Immisspriss Posted November 30, 2010 Author #11 Share Posted November 30, 2010 My bad, we are on the Carnival Legend. This would be our first time cruising with Carnival. Yes I know that our needs are specific, but just did an Alaska Cruise last Sept, and I like warm climates. I am looking at some European and Adriatic cruises now... depending on air... I just did a quick search using your week of travel and destinations. The closest itinerary I've found is aboard the Carnival Conquest departing on June 26th,2011, visiting, Nassau, Key West, and Grand Bahama Island. This cruise sails from Galveston, TX. VERY nice ship!
FlaGrl4Evr Posted November 30, 2010 #13 Share Posted November 30, 2010 If you wanted to include all of the ports that the Legend was planning on you could do a B2B on the Destiny. June 23- 4 day, Key West, and Cozumel. (you could just have a ship day while in port in Mexico. returns to Miami on June 27 June 27- 5 day Eastern, ports, Grand Turk, HMC and Nassau. Or you could do just the Eastern portion and have 2 extra beach days in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale or perhaps rent a car and drive to Key West and spend the night. Just a thought. :)
Kaboochi Posted November 30, 2010 #14 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Before finding this thread I posted a new one because we too are affected by the itinerary change. My best girlfriend and I are traveling without our husbands and honestly we don't care where the ship goes. As long as we have smooth seas, sunny skys, our BIG balcony and a casino that pays we will be happy. We are not concerned about the unrest in Mexico as Cozumel (which we love visiting) seems to be unaffected. We love Grand Cayman and we've never been to Roatan so the change is fine. For those of you who are concerned, check out the ports threads. I honestly think you will be happy with the new ports. I too am sad about the private island and key west. Maybe next cruise. FlaGrl4Evr Posted November 30, 2010 #15 Share Posted November 30, 2010 We just sailed the Legend Western route last month( loved it, loved the ports) but actually had our eye on the Oct 16 sailing, which is one of the 5 Eastern routes scheduled for 2011. We purchased the FCC and wanted to use it for a 7 day E. and love the TB area, so this date would have worked. I would be upset if we had already booked because we would have done so specifically for the Eastern ports. Since they have now changed 2 of the sailings, I wonder if they are planning on changing them all.
Rare Tapi Posted November 30, 2010 #16 Share Posted November 30, 2010 We will not travel to Mexico under any circumstances. Are you against travel to Mexico because of the recent crime increase along the Mexico/US border? If so, don't be concerned at all. Cozumel is very safe and tourist friendly. Not wanting to go to Cozumel because of crime along the border, makes as much sense as not wanting to go to Disney World because there's crime in Detroit! The Western itinerary on the Legend is actually a GREAT itinerary. Grand Cayman, Belize and Isla Roatan are all wonderful destinations and quite different from other destinations in the Caribbean. I would take the Western Caribbean itinerary on the Legend ANY DAY before the Bahamas/Key West itinerary...

Are you sure she likes cruises and tropical places??? I mean....those are some "nice" islands... honestly the Bahamas is not that exciting, it can be expensive it is not as tropical as those others I think they canceled all the Legend trips to this so called "Eastern" route cause they cost a lot in fuel and face it those are not the most exciting places (Half Moon Cay is really nice I hear) Why not go on the Liberty Eastern?? addicted to cruising Posted November 30, 2010 #22 Share Posted November 30, 2010 IMO I still think the new itenerary that Carnival is offering is better than what you sched. I know Im always looking for new ports to keep my cruising exciting but to be honest the Bahamas is my least fav, I dont think there is anything all that great there. Your new itenerary offers some really great stops. I would take some time and look at all the ports before making a change and see if there is something of interest. There is great info here about all the ports.
quickrate Posted November 30, 2010 #23 Share Posted November 30, 2010 May I ask why? I was going to ask that question too! Love Cozumel. Been there at least 10 times and never get tired of it. Pat

smc0320 Posted November 30, 2010 #25 Share Posted November 30, 2010 You will have a BLAST in Cozumel. There is SO MUCH to do for everyone....and it is SO NOT Mexico. It's amazing, the beaches are great...you're missing out. Belize & Roatan are great as well...only place I didn;t like in that cruise was Grand Cayman...was dirty and had every American fast food restaurant lining the roads. I much prefer Western Carib over Eastern...which is why I haven't gone on one yet. Just have FUN!
