  1. 1. What Platinum gift would you choose (if given an option)?

    • Nothing - Carnival owes me nothing!
    • OBC - fixed amount
    • OBC - fixed + additional (based on cruise count)
    • COMBO: OBC (either type) + “one of below”
    • Choice of (e.g): Soda/Drink/Photo Coupons, Bucket of Beer, Soda Card
    • Whatever “Made in China” bauble they want to throw my way!

Well i would hope that an opinion of customers would help Carnival see the light .

I personally think that's good business thinking. :)

Perhaps they should implement a comment card program for all passengers to offer their feedback, both the superbly excellent onboard details as well as those that are 'challenged'.

Oh, wait . . . better still . . . a "greener" method of offering all passengers the ability to do that process online. That should be easy. Perhaps someone should suggest this, and I'm certain the tech folks in Miami could have it up and running in no time.

On second thought . . . dangit, reality sucks.

Never mind. :(

To boldly go where Carnival has yet to go... ;)

In general, Princess is more expensive. There are always exceptions.

On Alaska, I guess it depends on when you booked and the sail date. Our Alaska cruise on Carnival Spirit in 2009 was one of the steals of the century. I wish I could see those prices again.

When we cruised Xmas, the cheapest cruise was the RCL Grandeur, the second cheapest was the Golden. Golden for all four of us was about $70 more, but we got ov windows, not inside like what was offered on RCL. I think that cost around $2500 for two OV cabinsEvery other CCL 7 day cruise was more (and I do watch). WHen we xmas cruised out of San Diego, the cheapest cruise out of CA was the Dawn Princess, much cheaper than the Pride. The price for two inside rooms was $2200 total, about $800 less than the Pride.

When we cruised AK on 7/4/09, the cheapest cruise (yes, cheaper than the CCL Spirit) was the Golden Princess, the price for BOTH of us including tax and port was $874 total.

Why would a CCL cost more than Princess? It all has to do with supply and demand. If CCL thinks they can sell the rooms at a higher price, they will.

Sure , let me know when you receive an email comment card .

Perhaps you could forward it to those that have never received one .

An Xmas Alaska cruise. Yeah, right.

Uh, you do know that the Golden moves around don't you? It cruised out of New Orleans during NOV/DEC of '06 (sailed it then, sailed on it twice to AK after that), sailed out of Los Angeles to Mexico winter 07/08, don't know where it was after that.

Just got off the Paradise and the Platinum gift was 4 soda coupons. I didn't use them this cruise since I brought on my own soda. I will just pack less next time!

I personally like this gift over what would have been another picture frame but I think Carnival could do better!

Yes, I do. You specifically mentioned Alaska earlier. Carnival Spirit Alaska cruises were bargains last year.

What I found insulting about the 4 coupons for soda was at the top of the page, a value of $7.75 was listed. Now we all know that 4 cans of soda is worth about $1.00.

I know it would cost $1.95 per can on board but not something I would buy so not worth $7.75.

Could they have given anything worth less than 4 cans of soda?

i agree---we are tired of picture frames---the thermo containers were not too bad---we did get at least 29--- but after 43 cruises with carnival--- i resent them calling to up-grade us to a suite------at the price of $100 per nite---for the coming freedom cruise----8 days-----that would mean---$800 additional for our fare------------not at all fair----irene and john---jugger

I would vote for a Milestone perk that would not cost Carnival one red cent.

A free upgrade.....generally they can't sell them...so give them to your loyal customers like the airlines do.

I have witnessed first hand, multiple times, the breakdown in promised perks. I have said it before, and I'll say it again, before they roll out NEW perks - they need to make sure that what they are already "offering" (or plan to offer) is something you can count on!!

Tom

They are rolling out the new plan on the 5th of never. There now are way too many platinum members. Perhaps they should be looking at milestone perks?

Hey...it could be worse...they gave us ONE sheet of 4 soda coupons to split 3 ways. (3 Milestones) Nothing says we appreciate the 130 Carnival cruises with us in the past 10 years like 1 1/3rd soda!! :D

I do not think there are that many platinums on any cruise.

Look around at the past guest parties and they ask who has sailed 10 or more times and only a handful people raise their hands.

I think they are being very careful in deciding what to do or the person hired to do this is in over his head and cannot make a decision.

I will say that "these" Platinum guests don't bother with the past guest party any longer. It is just a chance to have a few minutes of low quality free drinks.

They need a PLATINUM party - and kick up the free drinks and such a notch!

On 7+ night sailings when I pick up our tournament entry cards in the casino, they often have a couple of pages of Platinum guests. It used to be just part of a page - now it's dozens and dozens of people, so there are a fair number of "us" out there.

I always look at the list when I go down to the casino to get the free play for one of the tournaments. They have the lists there. Most times they are between 15 and 20 names on the list.

On a past Miracle cruise there were over 300 platinum members.

As I was told by the casino host, looked to be around 12 pages.

I'm still not real sure about that count.

Must have been the reason we received only one picture frame :D per two platinum in cabin

Not many platinums showed for the past guest party, that was alright with me.

I just asked for dirty martinis with a smile ;)

My brother and his family just got off the Miracle today. They were looking foward to the four soda coupons that I told them they would get. They were very dissappointed because they got cheap looking little plastic frames with a funship freddy on the side of it. They said one of them had a scratch on the frame. The frame looks like something that the kids in camp carnival had just finished making.

If Carnival wishes to come across as a budget cruise line - they are achieving it with junk/trinkets like this.

Honestly - either give something that a majority of people appreciate or could find useful, of DON'T GIVE ANYTHING AT ALL. I would rather have nothing than some type of junk that I need to either throw in the trash (wasteful) or give to someone else.
