Vibrations aft on Dawn Princess

Hi all.

We have booked an AB mini suite on the Dawn stern. We were on the Sea Princess (also a sun class ship) trip to Alaska back in Sept. We were not in a mini suite, but spent some time lounging at the stern. We noticed an irritating vibration that was constant.

I know previous threads have discussed aft vibrations, especially on leaving or entering ports. This I wouldn't mind, but not a constant vibration. Has anyone have knowledge about an AB aft cabin on the Dawn, and about any vibration problem?

Thanks Lancet

Don't know about the Dawn Princess.

For our first cruise we splashed out for an aft mini suite (B755) on the Sun Princess. Most of the trip there was a constant vibration. It was very annoying trying to get to sleep at night. We got somewhat used to it by the end of the cruise. On a positive note these mini suites are very nice. But for my money I wouldn't choose any cabin towards the aft.

Have been on the Pacific Sun and the Crown Princess since, had forward cabins and really enjoyed the ride.

Been on both Dawn Princess and Sun Princess, both have a fair bit of vibration aft, you can feel it in the Main Dining Room, which is aft. But don't be alarmed, many ships are the same. It is the screws that vibrate. Only worry when she is pitching big time and the screws come out of the water.

As for aft cabins, not been in them, we try for mid ships, partial obstructed view cabins.

Enjoy !

Thanks for responding. I posted this also on the Princess site (where someone suggested I post it here also). The response was the same as here: a vibration problem that was irritating to most. Think I will change to midship cabin.

Again thanks for the helpful replies

Hi lancet,

We were on the Sun Princess (sister to the dawn) in May this year, our aft suite was Dolphin D751 lowest suite aft on the ship. While it was a little noisy I must say I didnt notice any major vibration and I certainly didnt loose any sleep. Also we did enjoy those cruising days out on the balcony just watching the wash from the ship.

Hi, we had the St Tropez suite (Dawn Princess B755) in May - the vibration was only noticeable when the ship was moving faster than normal and of course when we got into a Port - no need for an alarm clock. That suite and its balcony was well worth a little vibration.

Cheers

Di
