Bajan, thanks, was not sure exactly when the storm was. New there was one in October but thought maybe one of the others hit in November. Have been reading about the problems afterward in a lot of the island we loved to visit and had just noticed he hadn't posted for awhile. He was very helpful providing information on Barbados when we were coming down there on a cruise last year. Hope he has been on a nice cruise. :) The Ump John

Aplmac Posted December 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2010 This year was not a cruising year for us. We went to Manhattan instead: twice! What a town!! It was a bit like going ashore for a week straight. We missed the hurricane entirely. Two of my banana trees got toppled over. Big deal Wife lost a few plant pots that cracked when they were blown off their shelf and dropped to the hard floor below. No other damage in my household! but I noticed several big trees toppled over, just levered-over  presumably as a result of the (recorded) gusts of around 100 mph despite sustained winds of 'only' 70 mph -just short of hurricane strength(74+ mph) I personally was Lucky with a capital L but others were not. Many roofs were lifted and there were other misc. griefs as well. One or two coastal cruise Catamarans were wrecked Heat Wave among them! . theump Posted December 13, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted December 13, 2010 Well it is good to see you posting again and everything is ok. We were just wondering if everything was alright since we hadn't seen a post from tou in quite awhile and normally see info or pictures coming. Funny how people you see on these boards and have talked to seem to become friends and you keeps tabs on them. Again glad to see you back :) The Ump  John
