Oasis 1/22 or Liberty of the Seas 2/5

Anyone going on either of these? Debating doing my first solo cruise (been on quite a few with my ex and family), trying to decide if I have the guts to do it! I'm recently single, in my 30s and really need to escape the Chicago winter! It'd be nice to know if there will be some "family" around to hang out with, possibly share a dinner table?

Hi, gchicago,

We're on Oasis on 1/22. I have a roll call for that cruise, but no one else has responded. We're hoping, too, that there will be some family on board. Former Midwesterners here, originally from WI and MI. It sounds like Oasis on 1/22 is not too full (yet), so you should be able to get a decent stateroom at a good discount. Good luck!

Hi CntPAcruiser,

Yeah, the prices are amazingly low for that one which is why I was looking at it for a solo. I don't care for this itenerary but I've been wanting to try an Oasis class. I'm still trying to decide if I'll have fun cruising by myself. It's nice to know at least someone else is going! Hopefully more people will respond

I agree, the itinerary is not stellar, but we figure on having that much more time to explore the ship and what there is to do on board. Although there's not been any response by people on this site, I'm sure there will be "family" on board you might meet, on this cruise or the other one. On our last cruise, we had booked a kayak/hiking/snorkel excursion online and ended up totally by chance in a van with two other couples, all family, and the six of us had a great time!

Sounds fun! Im definitely leaning towards doing the Oasis cruise. Maybe some people will show up at a FOD/glb event. I've been on cruises where lots of people showed up and some where no one came. This ship is so huge, there has to be more than just us!

We've never found the FOD meetups, but we weren't looking all that hard, either. If they are in one of the bars, I'll probably have to pass--can't take the smoking. But if you're going on Oasis, we'll see you at the meet and mingle. I agree, there have to be more, just not on CC I guess. I looked at some roll calls on other websites and saw nothing for this sailing.

On Royal Caribbean they don't put them in the cruise compass. Usually someone puts a notice on the message board by the guest services desk. And yes they are usually in one of the bars but fortunately most of the time there are non-smoking areas. I've found the only place I usually can't stand the smoke is the casino, most of the bars aren't bad, at least not on the Voyager and Freedom ships I've been on.

The last time we were on Adventure, November 2009, they had two nonsmoking nights in the Casino--I had never been in there before that! We did our free pulls and won a keychain. Not really gamblers here. The smoking issue has gotten better on board, I think, so we'll see. I'd heard about the message board, but we were typically with others on the cruise already. This time it's just us.
