sail7seas Posted December 27, 2010 Author #26 Share Posted December 27, 2010 KK .....Was the damage from fallen trees, ice dams or weight of snow on your roof? Sorry to hear your travel insurance wouldn't pay. That has to sting.
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 27, 2010 #27 Share Posted December 27, 2010 Weight of snow on the roof -- the way our house is built -- main living area is on the second level. The main living room had water damage to 2 walls and 3 areas of the ceiling, lost an entire wall in the dining room, lost wall and back door in the kitchen, lost shower and one wall in DH's bathroom. Our TA and a couple of other TA's that I know checked into quite a few insurance companies and all had the same response -- if there is at least one room in your house that you can live in -- they will not pay out on the claim. sail7seas Posted December 27, 2010 Author #28 Share Posted December 27, 2010 So sorry to hear all the damage your home suffered. You have commented it is now repaired and that's great. We all learned a lesson about another thing travel insurance will not cover. Doesn't seem quite reasonable on their part but.......... Best wishes in 2011 no more storm damage to any CC'ers homes. bepsf Posted December 27, 2010 #29 Share Posted December 27, 2010 Well that settles it........ no shoveling for DH. :D Not that I would ever let him shovel that amount of heavy snow. Rather than waiting for it to stop snowing, then trying to shovel 18" all at once - he should get out of the house every few hours to shovel 3" of snow each time... His tan will last longer that way. ;)
