We did a 4 day mini-cruise on Queen Victoria in December a couple of years ago. It was too rough to go to France, but we called at Rotterdam and Zeebrugge. Our first cruise, on the QM2, was 4 days to Hamburg and back to Southampton.

We've since done two more 4 day cruises on the Queen Victoria.

The recent two day cruise to Cherbourg on the QM2 had some bad reviews but I think it would be a good way of trying out one of the suites which would be too expensive on a longer cruise. If I did that I would stay on board all the time.
