Easy Stroll from PV, MAZ, and Cabo Docks

Can anyone suggest "easy" walks from the docks at PV, Maz, and Cabo? My parents (both in upper 70s) would like to get off the ship at each dock to have a nice lunch and maybe see a sight along the way. A 5-10 minute walk would be the maximum that they could endure.

Thank you so much!

In Cabo when you get off the tender you will be in the marina area. There is a boardwalk that runs the length of the marina. There are many restaurants along the way, there is also a flea market (in a building) there, etc. So you can walk as far as they can go and won't have any problems finding things to do. I like Solomon's Landing for lunch which is not far at all from the tender dock.

In Mazatlan you really can't walk to much in 5 or 10 minutes. For both the older part of Mazatlan and the Golden Zone area you would have to take a taxi. However, at the cruise ship terminal there are several "shops" you can go in and a couple of outdoor type places to eat which are actually pretty good. Nothing fancy but good.

In Puerto Vallarta - again the main town of Puerto Vallarta is not within walking distance of the dock. At the dock there is a flea market and a few places to eat. About a 10 minute walk is the Krystal Vallarta which is a resort that lets you use it's facilities if you eat or drink there. Some have been charged a $20 fee to enter which is then used toward food and drink but we've gone in several times and not been charged the fee.

Have you thought about doing a city tour in Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan that way your folks could be on a bus and not have to do much walking at all but still get to see some of the sights.

I hope you enjoy your time in the Mexican Riviera

Hi there,

You don't have to take a bus tour of the city.

We don't like large buses ourselves.

You can just get a taxi at the dock and arrange for the driver to take you into town and/or take you to a few sites. Many speak English. You should agree on a price before you get into the taxi.

You can also buy a small guide book if you want to read a bit about the ports.

We have one called Mexicos Pacific Coast by Lonely Planet.

This advice is perfect....thanks! I will also look into the city tours and see if I can convince them. They usually aren't big fans of sightseeing bus tours.

If they don't like bus tours you could get a tour from one of the local taxi drivers which is definitely a better experience if you want privacy. Just be sure and agree firmly on a price before you get in the taxi and make sure you understand if it is per person or a total price for everyone in the taxi.

Remember however a cabdriver is NOT a guide. His english might be limited, his knowledge less then a certified guide.

A guide will be more expensive however.
