We were on this cruise; the Sea Day Brunch, Lido (Chocolate Extravaganza), and Fun Shops were busy on Saturday even with the slightly (I thought) rough seas. It was very windy and hard to open the balcony door. The boo boo bags were set out by the elevators.

We had worse conditions last November on the Pride. It was fun to look at the balcony rail and watch the horizon go up up up up and then back down down down down.

rsrmjs,

I also considered the sea conditions to be slightly rough, but after witnessing several people making deposits in the 'boo boo bags' I assumed I was in the minority. :) Karen and Britt hit the Brunch on Saturday, then later Karen prayed to the ceramic goddess several times. I hit the Chocolate Extravaganza for the three of us that weren't sick and encountered no lines there at all. Prior chocolate experiences have always been that the lines are long... I also made three trips to The Shops on Saturday and was alone in the store each time. Even for the alcohol sale there was nobody in line. (I bought four bottles on Saturday).

Paulmedik I think we were with you at Jack's Shack in Grand Turk!!! I am a fellow ginger root user and believer still taking it today as we all still have major sea legs but never got sick! Half Moon was great with FTTF we were on first tender!

cruisetodayteachtomorrow,

LOL yeah I still have major sea legs as well. The room is rocking as I type this! Lovin' it though.

I'm editing the pics from Grand Turk now; 644 pics and then GoPro video that I have no clue how to do yet.... If you were at Jack's Shack then I likely have pics of you so keep an eye out for them. GT pics should be uploaded later today.

We were on the second tender to HMC; the line was backed all the way up to the lobby and we were escorted from Guest Services to the tender; I have GoPro video of that as well assuming I can figure out how to edit and upload it. :p I'm sure there will be some hateful looks directed our way in the video though I didn't see any myself.

This may fall into the dumb question category, but here it goes. Our flight gets into BWI at 9:10am on embarkation day. Can we taxi over to the terminal, drop off luggage with porters and then head out to the harbor for some sight seeing? I know we most likely wouldn't be able to get on the ship until early afternoon, but I was hoping to do something with the luggage.

FTTF guests sit in a separate back room, and VIP/suite seating is in a roped off area in the main room next to the embarkation door.

On 4/13, boarding started just before 12:30. I didn't note the exact time, but we had our photo taken, stopped by the excursion desk, ate some stir-fry, made a couple of calls, and were dropping off our carry-on bags in the cabin by 1:15. Have a great trip!

Not a dumb question. Maybe if you're at the terminal at 10:30/11, you may be able to do this. Too much earlier I don't think so.

Good luck! Hope it works out.

Paul,

Welcome back! Looking forward to your review as we'll be on the Pride August 2015. I managed to snag cabin 6232,so I'm pretty excited. I realize the ship will have all the 2.0 upgrades by then, but I always enjoy your photo reviews, and your perspective. Thanks in advance.

Melissa,

We arrived at the port at 11:29 and stepped into Pride's atrium at 12:20. I use the EXIF info in my pictures for the times.

I didn't take any pictures in the terminal because they were a bit overzealous in protecting their privacy, but my GoPro apparently recorded the entire boarding; assuming I can get the time from it I'll know that time too. I thought I had it connected to my phone via WiFi and indeed I did, but it was also recording. The video is amusing because I was stopped twice and explained it was blinking because it was connected via WiFi and the second time the guy about blew a gasket when I pulled my phone out to show him. He forgot about the GoPro and proceeded into a rant about how phones are not allowed! I put my phone away and walked off. I had the water proof door on at the time so the audio is very poor, but the video worked just fine.

I just got the GoPro right before our cruise and reading the manual is no help. Many people here on CC have advised to play with the GoPro before you plan to use it and their advice is spot on; wish I had taken their advice, but if I had, then I wouldn't have had video of the boarding. :D

Soccersharon,

I'm looking forward to getting the review started, but I have a lot more editing and uploading to do. I got both Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay edited today; GT was over 600 pics and Half Moon Cay was 1350 pictures. The last two sea day pics should be finished tomorrow and I hope to figure out how to edit the GoPro videos tomorrow too. I'll have to cut out the terminal part, but I don't see why the gangway video would be an issue since it's an all glass easily viewable area.

I left my GoPro on the security screening belt in Grand Turk and had to retrieve it from Guest Services; it's hard to tell what video it captured. I assumed it was off, but I'm not sure and won't know until I go thru the videos. I transferred the first two days of videos onto my laptop on board, but editing video on my laptop was very time consuming so I just left the rest unedited. Storage space was moot because I have three 64GB micro cards for it.

One thing I'll be real curious to see on Pride is where the put Guy's Burgers. It will have to be a scaled down version of Guys regardless of where they place it. I'm assuming Guy's will replace the Grill area, but that area is divided by a central walkway as I recall with a Grill on each side of the ship. I didn't eat any Burgers last week, but I did stop by and smell them; I was full at the time or I'd have had one or three for sure because they smelled great and were larger than previous grill burgers.

Your photos are some of the best on CC! We're ready, when you're ready.

Aside from Guy's, there's also the Blue Iguana Cantina to squeeze in as well. I had a look at the deck plans, and it appears there is space available behind each grille area, which would likely be used. Also to be adeed is tequilia and rum bars. Not sure how Conquest and Spirit class ships differ size-wise, so hoping the new additions don't over crowd the Lido.

Thanks so much for your reply.

Paull, would love to read your review before we sail since we're on the same itinerary. Most of the Pride reviews I find are the other one. I've been to all the ports several times, but I just love reading reviews for my upcoming cruises.

And I'll be doing the Single Digit Dance tomorrow. :D

Anyway, thanks to all for the helpful info.

So, what's the current Platinum gift? Anyone?

Conquest-class ships are definitely larger. The beam is wider too, no? The Spirit-class ships are such a different design (and one which I like SO MUCH MORE) it will be interesting to see how they manage the renovation.

I would assume that one of the grill areas by the pool (near the stage) would become Guy's Burger Joint and the other the Blue Iguana Cantina. Two of the bars at the pools are underused and will probably be turned into the rum bar and tequila bar.

NCTribeFan,

Video for my review is proving to be tough; I missed several things that I thought I had video of and have video of things I had no intentions of getting video of. Want to see the inside of an xray machine? I have video of that. Want to see video of going under the FSK Bridge? Don't have it. You can see us up on deck in front of the funnel getting ready to go under the bridge, but then apparently the battery died or I hit a wrong button or something. I did get the entire boarding process, but had to cut out everything until we enter the ship, but the video is still 5GB and YouTube isn't liking the upload.....

I am doing OK editing and uploading pics, but still have the last two sea days and post cruise to finish.

The Platinum gift was Tervis Tumblers and we received them after dinner on the first evening on board;

We now have 14 Carnival Tervis Tumblers. :o

I love the new tumbler! I have a half dozen of the old one with the patch in it. I hope I get one of these new ones in September.

Has anyone experienced a wedding on Pride in Baltimore before she sails? Will be a wedding guest prior to sailing 9/14, then staying for cruise. Have never sailed on Carnival, but have sailed on other cruise line. Dock side wedding is a first or me.

Thanks in advance for any info/suggestions you can offer.

I see reviews that have pics of inside the terminals which I know is not supposed to be allowed. Of course, you aren't supposed to be on the phone, eating or drinking during muster drill but that never stops anyone. I missed a call from the shuttle people in Miami last November because my phone was ringing while I as in line to go through customs and the nice lady told me that I was NOT to answer it!

I have a Tervis tumbler sitting right in front of me as I type. I gave the last one I received to my SIL as a Christmas present. Generous of me, wasn't it? :p Mine just has the oval "Carnival" logo. But I really don't need another. I want the cooler bag. I just know that they'll have them on Splendor until the week before they send her to San Juan for our repositioning cruise and then they'll switch to something I'll never use.

Oh well. It's a gift. If I don't want it, I'll give it away or just turn it back in at the desk.

Maybe I should do some laundry this weekend so I can pack next week!

Has anyone utilized the fitness classes on the ship before? I

am specifically interested in the spin class and want to know

if it is worth the cost (still $12.50 I'm assuming) and when the

classes are available. Also, if there isn't a class in session, are

we allowed in the spin studio to train by ourselves? Thanks!:o

NCTribeFan, if you get another Tervis Tumbler, talk to your Room Steward or Guest Services and ask if there's just one of those cooler bags laying around somewhere for you to trade for that tumbler. I was on the Pride just a few weeks back and got the cooler bag, so they definitely had them. You only need one and they might just have one. Hope you get one.

NCTribeFan,

I don't expect to start my review until next week, but I do have the pics all online now and just need to go back and pick room and ship pics for those albums. CLICK HERE for Carnival Pride pics then click on whatever day's album you wish to view.

I have uploaded some videos to YouTube; Be FOREWARNED that I my video editing skills are poor. You can tell by watching the videos that I know squat about my GoPro, but I am learning as I go.... You can also tell that I have a long way to go before I'm ready to combine them all into one vacation video which I do plan to do.... So far I have converted video up to Jack's Shack on Grand Turk and still have a LOT more to go thru to finish. I learned NOT to add songs to the video or YouTube will block them....so the audio is straight out of the GoPro which wore it's water proof lid most of the time. CLICK HERE for my YouTube videos

Here's a prime example of no editing and poor video skills, but with that said you can get a good idea of what Cabin 8273 and the balcony is like as well as how close it is to the Serenity deck;

My plan is to do my normal review with pictures / text and just include the video in the timeline of the review. Perhaps by the time I'm finished I'll be able to do a comprehensive video and get YouTube to accept it with audio dubbing otherwise I'll just upload it to my site and let the royalty owners track me down..:D It will be worth it to get rid of the clicking and extra noise.

Nice videos for a first timer with the go pro. Why does the ship look so empty? And where was the past guest party held? Is that the lounge under the main theatre?

BigRed93,

The ship seemed to always look empty; I guess I'm just used to Conquest and Dream class ships that have people everywhere. :)

Yes, the Past Guest party was held in the Butterflies lounge on deck 1 under the main theatre.

I have never seen anyone else with a camera on a stick (that's what I call it). My husband has one that he attaches to his different cameras.

It's a handy little gadget. No more asking people to take a photo of the both us together. ;)

I'm looking forward to your review.
