jinxgirl Posted January 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2011 Does anyone know if ships anchoring at Lahaina typically lower a few lifeboats and use those to tender passengers to shore, or are there ferry boats in Lahaina that are used for this purpose? Does it vary by ship or cruise line? Also (and I realize this is somewhat of a silly question because ships might anchor in different spots, but.....) generally how long is the tender ride? Travelling to Hawaii on the Sapphire Princess later this month. :D:D:D:D Thanks! Cathy :)
CruiserBruce Posted January 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2011 Usually the ship uses it's lifeboats to tender. I have not seen local boats being used in Lahaina. The tender ride is about 10-15 mins, but that time can vary due to loading time.

austriaworldtraveler Posted January 13, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2011 The ship tenders take you to the harbor security dock area to disembark und unfortunately the first passengers off the ship are the ones booked on shore excursions offered by the ship. So you will have to wait a while to get off. They have free shuttles to shopping areas at the harbor. Skip hilo haty und whalers village. They have a good public transportation that can take you around for one american dollar. Do not wait for the last two tender to ship.
