BHappy2Day Posted January 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2011 I have to start at the lowest passenger accessible deck and walk both sides from the front to the back, touching the walls at each end. I repeat this on every deck, moving upward. It takes one to two hours. I usually do this Day 1 or Day 2, but absolutely every cruise. This is most fun on a Disney ship, because many cruisers decorate their cabin doors. I have talked my sister into doing this with me. My husband refuses. I get to see the whole ship, and I get exercise. The touching the walls at both ends is probably just some OCD.

cb at sea Posted January 13, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2011 If you were my spouse, I'd have to send you on your way, alone, too! I could get a good tan going in the time you spend walking the hallways!
BroncosFan2010 Posted January 14, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2011 I like to explore the ship as well, but I don't care about the cabin areas. Just the main venues!

I don't have OCD, just a bad sense of direction.
cruising to paradise Posted March 28, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Last year on our cruise we walked a couple of halls for exercise and to see how far it was to go all the way around . There was some interesting art work and it was 1/2 mile to walk all the way around. We were on Liberty of the Seas.

Gunner22aa Posted January 25, 2013 #11 Share Posted January 25, 2013 Although I don't quite do it your way I too see most of the ship but for me it is daily. I am a very early riser. 5am is sleeping in. Mother is just the opposite so I get up and walk, have a coffee and walk, have a coffee and walk. Frankly out time tables are so different I'm surprized we had children.
oliverdr Posted January 27, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 27, 2013 I also have to walk the decks from top to bottom first thing after lunch- I usually skip the cabin areas however. I will walk the cabin areas if the weather is not good for exercise! I also decorate our door- loads of fun and I know which room is mine!

penguinscott Posted April 2, 2013 #15 Share Posted April 2, 2013 I....like it! I recently realized on a cruise that there are many ships I've never set foot on a particular floor. Last year, I coordinated a writer's luncheon and found that I needed to deliver notes to those who had signed up. It took me all over the ship and on nearly every level...a first for me. It was fun. I guess touching the walls on either end just fortifies that you actually did the length.
scubadogbones Posted May 13, 2013 #16 Share Posted May 13, 2013 We always order a banana split for the dessert after the last dinner. We tell the waiters it is our ritual and they aim to please :)
