njhorseman Posted January 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2011 I've sailed on the Gem several times and don't recall anything remotely resembling afternoon tea...for that matter I don't recall anything like that on any NCL ship.

So does anyone of you know about this on the Gem? We leave tuesday.. thanks I think what they are referring to as tea ( on any of the NCL ships I have been on) is the food the put out between 3 and 5ish. There are cookies, scones with jam and whipped cream and some little tea-type sandwiches. Probably not what one would consider a Proper Tea, but anything with jam and whipped cream suites me ;)

Is it in the buffet area or at the back of it? thanks
antsnanny Posted January 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2011 Hi, We've been on the Gem several times and "tea" is as the OP discribes and is usually at the "Great Outdoors" deck 12 aft. Love the scones and love the "Great Outdoors" Enjoy!
jerseygirl111 Posted January 9, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2011 Is this just on the Gem or other NCL ships as well?
antsnanny Posted January 9, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 9, 2011 Jerseygirl111, thats a very good question, I was on the Dawn in May and I don't recall seeing "tea" at all. We were with family and enjoying my grandchildren kept me from looking for sweets in the afternoon.
njhorseman Posted January 9, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 9, 2011 None of the ships have afternoon "tea" in the sense of what the British would call afternoon tea. They all have an afternoon snack of varying types, set up either in the buffet or the Great Outdoors on those ships that have one. The types of food available at the afternoon snack can vary from one ship to the other.
