CruiseOrLoseMe Posted January 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2011 Can somebody remind me what rules the play Blackjack in RCCL casinos. Most importantly, does the dealer hit or stay on soft 17. Also can you split all pairs. Doubling nuances? I want to bring the correct "basic strategy" lookup sheet with me. Thanks in advance
jackretired Posted January 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2011 Can somebody remind me what rules the play Blackjack in RCCL casinos. Most importantly, does the dealer hit or stay on soft 17. Also can you split all pairs. Doubling nuances? I want to bring the correct "basic strategy" lookup sheet with me. Thanks in advance This is from a failing memory: Single deck blackjack pays 6/5 Multi-deck: Blackjack pays 3/2 Dealer hits soft 17 split any pair, if AA - only 1 card on each hand and if one of them is a third A then you have a count of 2 (can not re-split Aces), Kings (etc) then the dealer gives you a bad look and everyone else at the table moans (or worse). Can re-split any pair (other than aces) for a total of 3 hands and can double down on any of the split hands (other than aces). No matter what your "basic strategy" lookup sheet says; do not split any pair (other than aces) when the dealer is showing a 10. No matter what your "basic strategy" lookup sheet says; do not split 8-8 when the dealer is showing a 9. Surrender is not offered. Insurance favors the casino, but not by much. You must remember that insurance is a side bet. It has nothing to do with your cards or the size of your bet. If you are sitting at a full table and you do not see a 10 count card, then the dealer probably has one. But if you see a lot of 10 count cards, then the dealer probably does not have one. Remember there are only four 10 count cards out of every 13 cards. Did I give you to much info? Have more Q?
Elkhornne Posted January 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2011 Take advantage of every double and split opportunity. Most have better success playing the $25.00 tables. Most $25.00 and up players go by the rules. Whatever strategy you use make sure you stick to it. If you choose to hit on a 16 when the dealer has a 7 or higher showing, always hit, never change your mind. Stick to the same play and follow basic strategy. Good luck, and remember the winnings are tax free.
cruisinfanatic Posted January 8, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2011 Take advantage of every double and split opportunity. Most have better success playing the $25.00 tables. Most $25.00 and up players go by the rules.. That has ZERO effect on whether you win or lose. Someone that plays wrong can make you win the same amount they cause you to lose
CruiseOrLoseMe Posted January 8, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted January 8, 2011 Thanks for the RCCL rules and advise! The key question was do they hit or stay on the soft 17...they hit. thanks! I'm pretty mechanical/boring - play by the book no matter what. Always split 8s and A's. I don't care how people around me play...it has no effect on my or the house odds. I never take insurance. It's all about how much you bet and when. Tip generously! ...mdp

Rare silentbob007 Posted January 8, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2011 I HATE it when people start whining about "taking their card" or causing a loss ... in the scheme of things, who knows?
