sugarbear41 Posted January 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2011 We are a group of ten that are going to visit New Orleans for a couple of days before our cruise. I wanted to know if anyone has some suggestions for lodging with a shuttle service to the terminal. Thanks:D
garycarla Posted January 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2011 No answer about the shuttle. But, individual cabs run a fixed rate - if I remember correct it is $14 from downtown.

slcreads Posted January 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2011 There are multiple threads on this board under the North American Homeports - Golf Port Departures that reference various Hotel options in NOLA. I'd go out there and do some research.
susanrfc Posted January 12, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2011 Holiday Inn French Quarter has a shuttle that last March was $11. They have a park and stay package so you stay one night in the hotel and then can park your car during the cruise. We did not use the shuttle we drove to the port droped off our bags and then drove back to the hotel parked and walked to the port not a bad walk without bags. Plus wanted to get some exercise in before lunch. LOL

What time did you go to the port and what was the traffic like?
susanrfc Posted January 12, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2011 Someone posted on another thread saying that driving to the port to drop off luggage was a mess. What time did you go to the port and what was the traffic like? I think that we went to the port around 11:00. Time changed that morning Daylight Savings. It was not a mess at all. We drove up right to the curb unloaded the luggage gave it to a porter. Left the kids at the port (Two 21 year olds 17 and 16 year old) the kids got in line and were on the ship before we got back ( we did have a little hickup forgot to give the kids a credit card for the room but were able to give the # over the phone). We went back to the hotel and then walked back to the port. We were eatting lunch in Windows by 12:30.
firefly333 Posted January 12, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2011 Holiday Inn Superdome, $99 special .. have to call until you get it sometimes .. includes free parking and FREE shuttle to drop you off at the port. They say the port prohibits them from picking you up at the port. They leave on the shuttle every hour on the hour and have drop off points around the french qtr where they will leave you, which Iv used a couple of times too, and then walked back to the hotel. Just the superdome location has the cruise special for $99 that includes free cruise parking and parking the night you stay there and the free shuttle. Sargent_Schultz Posted January 12, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2011 HI French Quarter has a cruise special, but no free shuttle http://www.hifrenchquarterhotel.com/specials.html Hampton Inn Convention Center has a free shuttle, but only discounted parking: http://www.neworleanshamptoninns.com/cruise.html For 10 people, you might just stay where you want and arrange for transportation. Maybe ask for a quote from here: http://www.machupicchutours.com/Transportation.htm
Carlos7 Posted January 13, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2011 If you stay at the Hilton, at the Riverwalk mall/ close to the convention center, you probably can walk to the ship. And the same time is near the street car to take you right to Jackson Square.
