charlielinda Posted April 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2004 I haven't even submitted by review of the Best Cruise Ever on the Summit and the glow is fading. We just returned from the best cruise ever -- the Summit on April 5. While on the cruise we booked our next cruise on the October 15 Summit on Monday, April 12. I asked and was assured that if ANY coupon came out on the October 15 Summit sailing that Celebrity would honor it. (Yes, I should have gotten this in writing). Well, I discover from my friends here at Cruise Critic that yes indeed a coupon had been issued that that it was only for bookings made April 15 through June 30. Now, don’t you think we would have waiting until Thursday on the cruise to book our trip if we had been told we could save an additional $150 for our CC cabin! I have been on the phone with Celebrity and been told they will not honor it; I said that I had been told by an employee that any coupon would be honored if we booked our cruise on the ship; I’ve been round and round. Someone is supposed to call me back tomorrow and I’m not holding my breath. It is amazing that on the Summit I was treated as the most important person in the world and a very important passenger. Now I don’t feel that at all; it’s the point of Celebrity honoring their employee’s word. tbelian Posted April 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Go ahead and send your coupon in to Celebrity. Forget what you are hearing on the phone. Your coupon will most likely be honored. Whenever I've used a coupon in the past, I never checked 'up front' to see if they would honor it, I just sent it in, and they always honored it. Nothin to lose, send it in ! (make a copy if you want to keep it for your records). Usually you will see the coupon value deducted from you 'final payment' amount (i guess that's usually about 60 days from the cruise date?). bob278 Posted April 21, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Which is worth more? The coupon or on-board booking credit? If you have to choose, let that guide you. I agree that you should just submit it, especially if you are transferring it to an agent. It's harder to turn someone down who is submitting a coupon than it is to tell someone not to bother. If you do decide to call again, start out by asking nicely for a supervisor. I think it is generally accepted that the ocean-going folks of Celebrity are much more customer-friendly than the shore-based ones. I know that's been my experience. I've learned another valuable lesson on this board. Ask that any promises made get added to comments on your printed confirmation when you book on board. Good luck. Guest Posted April 21, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 21, 2004 basketlady, I agree don't give up. Call the CC desk. We have been able to apply coupons in the past for sailings that were booked outside of the booking dates--including an Infinity cruise that we booked way ahead of time on the Galaxy. Maybe something has changed. Still you should not be penalized for booking your cruise while on board the Summit. Argue this point with the Capt Club people/supervisors until you find a sympathetic ear. I don't think you are going to want to cancel your booking for the coupon because you will forfeit the onboard credit. usha Posted April 21, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 21, 2004 It's always the phone clerk who "runs the entire company", isn't it? I would just send the coupon, either to your TA, or to Celebrity directly. Good luck!
Andy Posted April 22, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Hi Basket Lady ! Just to agree with all the others... I DEFINATELY would submit the coupon. I cannot promise it will be accepted, but I do think the odds are in your favor ! In the event that the coupon is declined, I would then keep calling Captains Club, and ask to speak with a Supervisor. It really sounds like your request is reasonable. Keep trying and Good Luck. Please let us know how you do ! thenewkid Posted April 22, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I'm going out on a limb here and disagreeing with everyone!! I think it is fair to assume that the employee that told you Celebrity would honor any coupon, didn't mean ANY coupon EVER! He/she probably meant any coupon that applies to your booking. This one, by reason of dates, does not apply. Sorry...Bring on the flames!! Senga Posted April 22, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I was advised by Celebrity that there is NEW wording on the current/future coupons so they will not honour them. You got a $200 onboard credit so you're still ahead of the game and you can watch for price reductions.

Then you can also apply your coupon. We have always found much better deals with TA's, especially internet cruise only TA's, than booking directly with Celebrity. plvogel Posted April 22, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 22, 2004 You can transfer your onboard credit to another booking. You may have to choose a different cruise, then cancel that one and transfer back to the original cruise, using the CC coupon as well. They will honor any coupon that is applicable to the cruise, and in this case if you didn't book between those dates then it doesn't apply. It would be like taking a buy 1 whopper get another free coupon and and actualy ordering the BK Bigfish and asking if you can apply the coupon to that instead.
