sarahtar Posted January 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2011 hey, do the mattresses come OUT of the pullman beds? So if someone preferred to sleep on the floor instead of, you know, hanging several feel above the floor, they could do so on a mattress?
Ashland Posted January 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2011 Yes, they do..but they are not as high as you might think, and very comfortable, perhaps better than getting stepped on, as floor space can be lacking...Enjoy wherever you put it...:)
M&M Hayden Posted January 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2011 A 60 year old friend of ours was with us last month on Radiance and she LOVED the pullman. Much more than the sofa that she's gotten in the past. We just had to be careful with the ladder so we didn't whack toes on it during the night on trip to the "loo"! slmwo Posted January 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2011 I was curious about this, as well, and wondering if anyone has a picture of a cabin with the pullman bed out. We have two connecting rooms booked on Freedom of the Seas on August and will be using 3 pullman beds - I'm curious how crowded we are going to be. Thanks! :D
M&M Hayden Posted January 23, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2011 I don't have a picture, but we were in a D1 balcony and the pullman was located above the sofa.

paulap70 Posted January 23, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2011 So is the pullman bed exposed only if needed? Or is is always out so you have to watch your head when getting in/out of bed?

Thanks! :D We were on IOS last summer and had a stateroom with two pullman beds. Our children loved them!! I went up a couple of times to retrieve teddy bears etc, and found them quite easy to climb up etc. Just had to watch your head, otherwise BANG!! Attached is a photo with our gorgeous DD on her pullman. Also a photo of the stateroom without the pullman beds down. (sorry, last day mess of trying to get packed!). I would agree with the previous poster that the mattress on the floor would not leave you much room at all.

They fold up into the ceiling. (on the old ships, into the wall)

slmwo Posted January 30, 2011 #11 Share Posted January 30, 2011 Thanks so much for the pictures - they really don't look bad at all. I was a little worried....!!! :D
MiniMom57 Posted February 3, 2011 #12 Share Posted February 3, 2011 On one of our cruises (on Explorer) my teenage daughter wasn't feeling well one night and didn't want to sleep in the pullman so we pulled the mattress off and put it on the floor for her. It made it a little tight, and there wasn't much walking room, but it worked.
