cschultz Posted January 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2011 I have a porthole room on the Fascination for the 2/5 departure. Right now they have oceanview rooms for only $20 more than I paid (total). The only catch is they are guarantee rooms. Should I switch, or keep what I have. I am ok with the porthole room, and don't want to pay more, but for this little amount, should I do it> Also, will I have to redo my fun pass? firefly333 Posted January 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2011 For $10 pp I might .. what deck are you on with your port hole?? If you have a high deck, I might keep them for convenience, but they can be noisy that far forward. For $10 pp ($20) you probably will get a quieter cabin, but it could be on riviera deck. I am currently on Riviera deck, R8. Do you think I would get a quieter cabin? I tried to look at the available ocean view rooms, many are near elevators, or if I was moved to the empress deck, that would be under the dining rooms if I remember right. I need to do this today if I do it. Also, I have a bon voyage basket coming from the casino, would they search for my new room? Cheryl
firefly333 Posted January 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2011 The port hole cabins are forward of the OVs, so it should be a little quieter.. and since you have a PT on Riveria .. I would be inclined to gamble for $20. Its only if you are right under the galley/kitchen that it can be noisy .. not the whole dining room which is carpeted. I was just next to a elevator. Iv been back to back and never heard them, but I was next to the atrium this time and did hear the dinging a few times...but a OV is not that near to hear it. I would think the casino folks could find you . but dont know. Is there a way to contact them?

I guess I will gamble, (If I didn't I wouldn't be getting the basket from the casino) Maybe they will give me a room now since it is less than a week to the cruise. cschultz Posted January 31, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted January 31, 2011 Well, this is what I got. E26 on the Fascination. It is a 6D ocean view cabin. It is still fairly close to the front, but under the main show room. How loud do you think this will be? It should be quiet in the morning anyway, and we are usually up late at night. It will be nice that we are on the 7th floor instead of the 4th floor. Much closer to everything.

We were never bothered by any noise below us, but could be because we weren't in the room much that cruise, and if we were, probably could have slept thru anything. We enjoyed the location & all. Have a great time!

I think that I ended up doing pretty well!
