extractfairy Posted January 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2011 I can't seem to remember, is there is a certain size your carry on luggage is limited to? I remember it going through the scanner thingy, but can't remember specifics. Thanks for any replies!
cb at sea Posted January 30, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2011 Its pretty much like the airline size carry-on....a HUGE suitcase won't fit, but a moderate size will....you wouldn't want to have to lug around a really big suitcase, anyway! Happy ks Posted January 30, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2011 The width of a case may make it unable to pass through the scanner, but you don't have to be concerned with length. I have seen people turned back when they try to enter a terminal with bags that are too large. Typical airline regs for carry ons are 22", a couple allow larger bags. If you can carry it onto an airplane, you can carry it onto a ship. Just remember a few things. If you board early, you will have to keep whatever you boarded with in your posession until the cabins are open (usually around 1 pm). It also seems (according to personal experience) that if you check in early and allow your bags to be checked, they get there later rather than earlier (my theory is they are at the bottom of the heap). Elevators may be busy and very crowded during check in (and disembarkation) and you may have to carry your cases up/down stairs.
dixieva Posted January 30, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2011 I've seen folks carry on pretty large bags. I have carried on a 24 inch tall suitcase several times. Airlines have a restricted size because the bag has to fit in the overhead bin. It is NOT the same for a ship. Like others said-just remember you have to roll it around with you until your room is ready.
Cupcrazy Posted January 30, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2011 I don't really think the ships have a size limit. The biggest item i've carried on is a suit bag. just because I didn't want it to be thrown around and my suit get all wrinkled. I find it easier to just let the porters take care of my suitcase. If I want to go swimming when I get on board, I either wear my suit on or toss it in my carry on.
